And a lot of people are on some ‘USNTDP numbers are inflated, how good is x player really’ stuffYork is falling to no fault of his own. He's been a consistent contributor on the NTDP back end. He's falling because so many players previously behind him increased their stock.
He’s one kid I wouldn’t be shocked to see us take at 20. It’d depend who’s on the board still, but this kid was an absolute beast in the USHL this year.
It would be silly to not take that into account. Of course all their numbers are a bit inflated, they were on the most dominate offensively gifted USNTDP team in history. And a lot of people are on some ‘USNTDP numbers are inflated, how good is x player really’ stuff

I’m not saying not to take it into account, I just feel like the pendulum has swung too far into how much value people are putting into itIt would be silly to not take that into account. Yeah, and it’d have to be a really weird class for me to be ok with him at 20. He’s someone I would’ve used that DAL OR TB pick on if we had it. The shot is great, and I don’t think the speed is much of an issue since he’s smart and can play with pace. My issues are mostly him not being a sufficient playmaker at an NHL level. He’s really smart in 1v1 situations, but idk if the ability to utilize his teammates is really there. He’s also gotten by defensively by mainly using his size, not smarts. The boots scare me but he's got a great shot.
Krebs’ WHL team seems to be trying to load up for next season, might be something to keep an eye on
Definitely not the worst strategy, they traded for the rights of Wisconsin commit and one of the top 2020 guys in Dylan Holloway. I guess we’ll see if they can convince him to not go the college routeKootenay is moving to Winnipeg next season...so makes sense that they are trying to load up. don't want to be awful in your first season there
Jets listening on Ehlers according to LeBrun.
What will it take?
Random Bluenote's:
In regards to amount of picks, here's where most of the other teams stand one week away from the entry draft:
Columbus with only a 3rd and 7th rounder, that's it for their whole draft ??
Calgary with only one pick in the top 87(#26 overall).
Carolina with 10 picks, including three 2nds and two 6ths.
Dallas with only 4 picks in the draft, one pick in the top 110, no 2nd or 3rd.
Detroit has 10 picks, three 2nds and two 5ths.
Florida with three 4ths, 9 picks total.
Los Angeles has 10 picks, two firsts two thirds and two 4ths.
Montreal has 10 picks. two 2nds and three 5ths.
Devils have 10 picks. Three 2nds, two 3rds.
Isles have no 3rd or 4th round pick.
Flyers have 10 picks. Two 3rds, 6ths, 7ths.
Pens only have 5 picks, one pick in top 144. No 2nd 3rd or 4th.
Sharks only have 5 picks, none in the frst two rounds, none in the top 90.
Blues have only 4 picks, no first, a late 2nd and 3rd, no fourth.
Vegas has three 3rd rounders and three 5ths.
Jets only have 3 picks. No 1st, 3rd, 6th or 7th.
Side 'note'
Would you trade 3rd rounder(#68) for two Chicago 4ths(#105 & 124)?
Or trade those two picks and take the weekend off.I suspect Columbus is going to trade the rights of a couple players for draft picks.
has anyone ever been to the draft party? Is it held at MSG or the theatre?
The world is not quite that black and white. There is a difference between not wanting to bring someone back and looking at the situation and making a rational decision that the price is worth the ask. In this case, it would be to get to one of the other names that Gorton covets at the draft. If he does that, then he coldly did the calculus and decided that a move to get whomever was worth the risk and the price.
Again, you cannot have such a discussion when your viewpoint has blinders on. If you had told me that two years ago, before I chanted "Fire the GM", I would have asked you to describe the situation and the circumstances.
That is because your definition of a "great asset" seems to be limited to the assets that are skating on the big team. A "great asset" can also be great because it is used to derive another good or product from the market that in the future has a good chance of being called a "great asset". You take short term pain for long term pleasure.
I do not want to see Krieder traded. I think that as a top liner and a core member of the leadership group, he can be here on the other side of a rebuild. I also believe that Gorton would trade ANYONE if he thought that he could secure the type of deal that will set up this franchise to be excellent for years to come. And he would do so cold heartedly, without regards for what I want or what Kreider wants. And I also believe that Gorton is not going to simply give Kreider away and has a vision of how Plan A, Plan B, and Plan C would look like.
Depends on where we’re at in the draft. What are you willing to give up to draft zegres?
My guy there is Tomasino right now. Have been really impressed by him.Guys I'd be hoping to see at 20 OA--Seider, Brink, York, Tomasino--at least one or two of these guys should be there and they'd be who I'd pick from--that is unless someone like Newhook really falls or we don't move up.
