I do think, though, that Bowen Byram is the best defenseman in this class by a long shot. Anttoni Honka might chase him offesively, but not defensively. I think Byram is the whole package. Definitely top 5, IMO.
Maybe that's what it is- I don't see him as a C moving forward since he's built like a W. That decision from the Hlinka to play Krebs at C over Newhook still confuses me.I think he's pretty good. Hard worker, very good skater, good in all zones. I think he's skilled, but I question if he has 1C potential. Maybe more of a complimentary top line guy or a very good second liner. Cozens and Dach look like the higher upside centers of the three. All three are close. You could order them in any order, and I don't think you'd be wrong. I'd put them Cozens, Krebs, Dach for now. All within a couple of spots on my draft board though.
I agree. Buyer beware with defensemen taken high lately, though. That being said, I think he's the best defensive prospect, sans Dahlin, since Aaron Ekblad.I do think, though, that Bowen Byram is the best defenseman in this class by a long shot. Some defensemen taken high have had a tendency to underwhelm for one reason or another. In the cases of Ryan Murray and Aaron Ekblad, injuries had really stunted their development in their draft year and beyond. Why beware with defensemen taken high lately? Heiskanen is a beast![]()

Could Kakko seriously drop, maybe to the point of Rangers realistic 8th pick?
Nah ... top 5 for sure.
He can, he is a winger and I don't think, at least until this moment, that he is on the same level as a prospect as Svechnikov was last year.Could Kakko seriously drop, maybe to the point of Rangers realistic 8th pick?

His lists aren't worth giving more publicity.
That's a nice set of hands and some serious acceleration in tight quarters. I assume he is projected in the 5-15 range as of now?
Just did a once over of Button's rankings. Do they conform fairly close to the concensus?

Craig Button's first list on the 2019 draft. He's got Newhook at No. 28, Turcotte at No. 12 and Broberg at No. 3![]()
Newhook at 28 just reeks of Hlinka bias. It’s still incredible that he was cut from that team. It's funny to see where he has Turcotte and Newhook ranked.
Because most everyone I've talked to, and some of the stuff I've seen, has those two neck and neck at this point. The feeling is that neither will come close to knocking Hughes out of the top spot, but there is some intrigue as to whether they might go in the 2-8 range.

He's also 5'11. Karlsson could barely skate last year he was so beat up.
