My prediction - we get the 3 pick and take Zegras leading to several HF freakouts

I wouldn't be surprised if that happens. I think it's between Cozens and Zegras for the Rangers outside of the top 2.

To me it's harder to find a Cozens than a Zegras. But essentially it would be arguing who would you rather have: Zibanejad or Keller?

Another name to watch for round 2 is Patrik Puistola. Pretty decent shooter, and a smart player. I’ve been watching clips of his games and he’s looked very good.

Putting up one of the better u18 seasons in Finland, on par with Laine and Puljujarvi

I do wonder if they are the team that has him fourth.

I think they are. Number three being Cozens. If you look at some of the players on the McKenzie rankings, there are some clear "Rangeresque" outliers. There may be underscouted guys on the Bobby Mac list that aren't even ranked on the other publications.

"
No. 10 is Trevor Zegras, the third member of the U.S. Under-18 team in TSN’s Top 10. Zegras is a 6-foot, 166-pound playmaking centre who at times has played on the wing, sometimes with Hughes. Zegras has 13 goals and 49 points in 34 games, second in points to Hughes on the U-18 team. He’s committed to Boston University for next season.
Six of 10 scouts had Zegras in their Top 10, including one who ranked him No. 4 overall."

I can live with Zegras and Caufield.

In some alternate universe, where we are actually a lucky/blessed franchise, we could win the lotto, trade Kreider and draft.....

Caufield Hughes Zegras

Tuesday night the shouting is finally over. Then we know and we just hope the guy Gordon really wants is there in whatever spot we have.
I'll cry if it's another 'Petterson scenario'... but there's enough talent in the top10 to get a good player.

They finished with more points this year than last year.

Turcotte.

He’s the better player, the second best player on the best USDP team ever

If the Rangers get him at 6 or 7, we should be throwing a party

Yeah this is my motivation too. He has been a little blocked by Hughes, and Zegras has exploited little weaker teams with production to a larger extent, but he is the 2nd best player on that team.

Wthe US U18 team has played stronger teams Turcotte has really lead the charge and separated himself. But it’s not like I don’t respect people being high on Zegras, his creativity is really good. Turcotte is the better guy on the rush, carrying the puck, playing a 200 feet game.

I would compare Turcotte with Zetterberg and Zegras with say Marc Savard.

But it should be noted that I’ve always been a big fan of those really strong complete centers that Turcotte compares to like Zetterberg, Bergeron, Datayuk and co. Feels like it’s those guys that wins you championships.

the more this goes on the more i like dach after cozens. that size and his ability to create and generate chances is too much to ignore.

not interested in either zegras nor turcotte that high.

its cozens then dach for me.

Winnipeg finished 10th in the league and didn’t win their division.

Their 1st acquired by us can hence be everywhere from 17 to 21 by my count as long as they do not make it to the final 4.

17 if the final 4 consists of teams 11-16 in the league, and 21 if the final 4 consist of teams 1-9 in the league. Or anything in between if it’s a mix.

But I am very tired, so it could also be that their pick will be like 145th in the draft.
