Lol, just figured I’d take the chance to bust his chops on lottery day;)

I do agree with him on Cozens, even if I’m slightly leaning more towards the US guys now, specifically Turcotte. I think Turcotte has the better IQ and overall skills and motor package, despite Cozens being the much better goal scorer. I do worry about his teammate utilization and playmaking abilities against more structured systems.

Like I said above, I’m with you on one of the US Cs. The only pick I’m not crazy about here is Foote. He strikes me more as a Lawson Crouse type who will have to redefine his game to find a niche in the NHL. He’s a good juniors scorer, but holy smokes is the kid slow. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree there.

Korczak isn’t the sexy pick, and I could see people wanting Lassi Thompson there, but I like him a lot. Korczak is already really strong from a physical standpoint and is so smart defensively. I like him because you know he’s having a good game when you never hear his name called. He plays a very quiet, but effective game to neutralize opponent’s attacks, and his ability to defend with his reach will only get better as he grows. Being an above average skater helps too at that size.

Some of it was about balance, diversity and who is available when.

In Foote's case, I actually don't mind him as we get closer to the second. I don't think he's a top scoring winger, but I think his game could translate into a middle six role winger who is different from some of what we have, especially from this draft. Not married to him though.

Korczak to me is that steady, not flashy option that nobody talks about on draft day, but so many teams are always looking for. I think he's going to be in the mix for BPA at that point, and he has the bonus of fitting some needs --- plays the right side, brings size, plays a defense-first style, etc.

If Spencer Knight is still available at 31 (and assuming we get Tampa's pick in that slot), do you take him?

to me this draft is about speed and talent.

anyone with "2 way bottom 6 floor" stuff i pass on.

there are round 3-6 gems out there.

look for the guys with 3 key attributes

wheels.
production
smarts

things im not worried about

lack of physical play
defensive zones issues
size

swing for the fences

this may get you infracted

No gameday thread for the lottery??

Anyone know when the actual reveal or whatever will start?

3-7, I think you are looking at one of the names that all of us would be comfortable with (Dach, Byram, Cozens, Turcotte, Zegras). At 8, you are praying for Boldy to be there. At 9, you have hit the next tier and names like Krebs.

People are leaving Podkolzin out of the top 8? The draft doesn’t drop off after 7.

He won't be, but if by some miracle he is yes they should take him.

I disagree. He may be the BPA at that slot, but I feel like need has to play a part when drafting goalies. I'm really not interested in drafting a guy just so we can trade him, or someone else, 4 or 5 years from now. If there are concerns that none of our young goalies will become #1s, then I can see it, but I don't think that's the case.

If he's available at 31, then see if someone wants to trade up for him.

We've never had a top 3 pick in 50 years, haven't ever won the lottery. Traded for a lottery pick and took Pavel Brendl.

Please hockey gods, we've paid out dues. Please give us a top 2 pick.

There are no hockey gods! You know how I know? Jessimen! McIlrath! No all loving/all powerful sport god could or would allow such a travesty to take place!:laugh::laugh::laugh:

I feel like we'd pick Sogaard instead.

I like Sogaard... after the 2nd round.

The last 10 years I've only been really high on two goalies in the top rounds - Vasilevski and Hart. Before we traded the pick to Tampa Vasilevski was my first round pick that year.

If it wasn't for that silly Lindbom pick Knight would be one of my top targets this draft. He's got amazing reflexes for a guy that size.

In the last 12 years only two teams have taken goalies in back-to-back years with a first or second pick, one of those teams the Caps did it twice picking goalies in the first and second round one year.

if the rangers do by some mircale end up with 4 first rounders id take him at 37, but thats only if they keep the other four picks

I'll be a little bummed if we slide more than one spot, but in the end it doesn't matter too much. The Rangers always seem to beat to their own drum and they may very well have another Kravtsov on their list this year. If not, maybe they're at the point where a big move to trade up makes some sense for them because they have so many picks available. Especially if they get lucky with Dallas and Tampa.

I mean last year we thought falling to 9 knocked us out of the Wahlstrom range and look how that played out. All it takes is one or two guys going earlier than anticipated and suddenly you're right back where you started.

That's the thing. At what point in the draft does that BPA/Organizational need line start to blur? Knight is said to be the best American goalie prospect since Quick. If he's available with the last pick in the first round, the value is too good to pass up IMO.

Here is how tonight will go...

Rangers stay at 6 or move down: "The league hates us! We will never win any lottery!"

Rangers move up to #3: "Typical Ranger luck, we miss out on the two best players in the draft!"

Rangers move up to #2:"We're even unlucky when we are lucky!"

Rangers move up to #1: "...Jack Hughes isn't that good"

If this is Deal or No Deal and someone offered me the #6 spot...I'd take it.

1 - Overwhelmed
2 - Overwhelmed
3 - Great
6 - Win - feel good
7 - Fine
8 - Tough Break
9 - That really really really sucks.

For me it's probably like:

1- Shit myself with excitement
2-Shit myself with excitement
3- VERY happy, maybe shit myself a little bit but not enough where I won't be able to walk normally.
6- A quick sigh and happy we didn't go down.
7-A loud F bomb that the neighbors will hear.
8-A loud F bomb and a hole in the wall.
9- Destroy everything in my house, police will likely be called from my neighbors.

Second time in two days, I fell off my chair laughing. It's only funny because it's true.
