Well I'm not sure I'd say it's more likely to happen, at least not with our first pick as I think we're likely to end up with a forward there, but after that I could see it. I'm there with you in terms of the way the D shakes out with Byram in the mix. If we use all 10 picks and walk away with 6 defensemen and 4 forwards, it's just fine with me. Not all of these guys will make it, so bring on the depth at whatever position we can.

Yea I don’t think the rangers go Byram with their pick but I wouldn’t mind. I think it’s one or Turcotte or Zegras, I think they like the USDP kids. In regards to ODC, I wouldn’t be against the forward heavy first round. I just prefer Byram bc if you view him as a number 1 Dman which I do, and you look at next years draft and see us bottom 5 again, which I do. I think there’s a good chance that we end up with both a 1D and a 1C, on top of all the depth that we’ve accumulated

I don’t really disagree, but his physicality at the college level outside of a handful of occasions have pretty much been using his size/strength to box players out rather than throwing a hit. Just based on what I’ve seen from him, I don’t think he’s going to be the big punishing type of defenseman that I think some people want him to be, but he’ll definitely use his size/strength to lean on people
Same here. I see - again, very small sample size- a finesse guy. But a big and hopefully durable one. Which is great. Kind of exactly what one could call a "modern" defender. Maybe a rich man's Brady Skjei? Which is a very good thing.

Based off of what I've seen Krebs has superior vision to Turcotte, like it's not even close.

Turcotte is great with the puck on his stick, but if hes opening up those lanes, he isn't threading passes through when those lanes are there. It's not like he does this sometimes, he does it ALL the time.

That is a hockey sense thing, and something that worries the hell out of me. Rick Nash to some extent had an issue with this and he never grew out of it. Sure he still carved out an excellent career, but he was also 6'4" and had the reach of an orangutan. When the physical limitations are there, it's a bigger issue.

Also Krebs' shot volume is pretty decent (around 3 per game, not exceptional, but not bad.) Turcotte is almost a full shot under that. Some of that is because there is only one puck and all that talent on that team, but that isn't the only reason.
Yeah. Nash had tons of talent, heart, and and size but he didn't think the game particularly well. I guess that's why his game fell off so precipitously.

Is anyone else surprised the Rangers haven’t signed a single NCAA free agent?

Yeah, but I think part of that is that we actually have depth now. Like compare our farm and competition for a rookie for the last spots on a roster with the situation we had when Hayes and Vesey came here when we had nothing on the farm and lost regulars as cap casualties.

Like it’s a contradiction in a way since we don’t even have a that many solid NHLers, but it will still not be easy to just walk on the roster...

Can we promise kids a spot? It’s not a given...

Totally see where you're coming from with going forward heavy especially with our first rounders but let's say Heinola or another d man like that falls to our third first rounder (tampa pick) you wouldn't take him? Totally agree with the goalie pick unless Knight falls to the third round which he won't.
Every time I see the name Heinola I say to myself "I don't know shit from Heinola". I'm not the only one, right?

I actually wonder if Turcotte is actually higher on their board than Cozens.

That’s fair I just have a feeling it’s nothing concrete just a feeling Cozens is their guy if they can get him. Kid is a beast

I think it’s cozens turcotte zegras in that order for the Rangers.

I tend to agree on the trio, though I'm less sure on the order.

I wouldn't be shocked if it's the Rangers who have Zegras 4th. The question is whether Cozens or Turcotte are third.

So we take the guy with the worst wheels out of the group. Christ I can’t take that again. Lol

Eh, I think it's relative. Being the third best skater our of that group isn't a bad thing. And other areas of his game would comparable favorably to those two. They're in the same group.

im in agreement with dylan cozens being at the top of the nyr list. top of my list too.

too much there to pass on. 6'3 195. kids a truck. hes got very mature build. solid and strong.

hes a plus skater. perhaps plus + skating is a strength.

his ability to finish is also plus. he has one of the best most accurate shots in the draft and can score both in close and off the rush with his speed and ability to beat defenders. his shot is a strength.

i project him in a power winger/scorer role but i also believe hes got the size, the smarts and the skating to be a true 1C. drafting a versatile kid like this with our first pick makes too much sense.

lastly, hes someone who i would expect to push for a spot in camp in 20-21. hes not that far away.

he's my clear cut choice over dach, turcotte and certainly zegras.

Why do you continuously do this to yourself? How does ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ become ‘the sky is falling’?

Let's just cut it off here. What was that you said the other day? The bells of Armageddon are chiming?
