Cozens, Turcotte, Dach, Zagras. Unfortunately, I don't see how we get Cozens at 4 or 5 unless Byram goes 3??? we need to win the lottery/top 3

You’re neglecting Podkolzin, who is continually ranked higher than what we have him here.

And, a reminder from last year...two months out, no one had Kotkaniemi at 3 or Hayton at 5. We do not know how other teams view these players.

if there was a way to draft both cozens and alex newhook i would think that those 2 right there would add so much needed talent, speed and offensive ability to the prospect pool and when added to kravtsov would certainly give hope for the near future. suddenly, weve got some high end talent in the pipeline.

and, it would put us at the top of the "winners" list on draft day 1

alex newhook is just a point producing machine. i have zero question that if he was playing major junior and getting the press and props, this kid would be in the discussion for top 10 easy.

right now hes in the 12-20 range mostly

his reg season numbers are just stupid.

533864102
[TBODY] [/TBODY]

and hes going off in the payoffs as well

119918
[TBODY] [/TBODY]

kid is an under the radar over the top talent.

plus plus skating
plus shot
plus hands

cozens and newhook on day 1 and im thinking we've done as well as anyone

Absolutely, We definitely don't know how other teams view these kids especially as time nears the draft. I just have a feeling top 3 will be Hughes, Kakko and Cozens (Unless team number 3 really desires a dman) and of course guys we covet like EP being taken a few spots before we pick.

Podkolzin really has a chance to go top 3???I would be really shocked if he did. His talent yes but if the staying in russia factor has to be huge if you're picking him in top 5

He’s been consistently ranked third on most lists I’ve seen.

Well, Podkolzin has a very high probability of going third.

We keep dropping him from our calculations.
Isn't there talk of him wanting to stay in russia for a while. Lets put it this way if we get third or 4th or even 5th overall why wouldn't we take him then? There has been zero talk about us taking him with a top 5 pick on this board. Zero.

I'm not going to complain about getting one of Cozens, Turcotte, Zegras or Byram.

Each is different, with their own strengths and styles, but any of them are excellent prospects.
There’s not that many guys slated in the top 10ish that I’d complain about at 3-5 this year

This board is going to set itself up for disappointment if the Rangers don't take Turcotte.

I’m good with Turcotte, Cozens, Byram, Dach and Zegras...in that order right now. I’m hearing a lot of good things about Turcotte.

hard to say that

turcotte. cozens. byram and even zegras and dach.

a case could be made for any of these guys.

i wouldn't use the word disappointed with any of these names.

I really like Turcotte.

I just hope we don't develop selective hearing, which wouldn't be so bad except that it builds up these fantasies that turn everything outside of those scenarios into bitch-fests.

And I'm already starting to see this year's version build momentum.

figures the year we probably pick 5ish lol. Top 3 is the place to be
I mean like, #3 is where I’d most likely be mad about picking a certain player and as the puck drops further I’d be less likely to complain, but this year there’s a lot of players I wouldn’t have a big problem with at 3 even though I do have my own preference of player(s) I’d want there

I will never doubt the ability for fans to develop tunnel vision.

However, I think this year the board would be pretty happy with any of Cozens/Zegras/Turcotte/Byram and maybe even Dach/Podkolzin if we're picking 3-6 or so. I know I would be.

I think we would be pissed if we go something like Broberg/Newhook at 3-6. Maybe Boldy, but I also like him a lot.

The only place you see him dropping from that top 5 (and frankly, mostly 3) is on HF. Not saying that your concerns are not valid, but fact is most prognosticators do not see him dropping.

That's this board. That is what I mean when I say "'ware the echo chamber."
Yes on talent alone he's probably 4th/5th behind Kakko, Hughes, Cozens but there are other factors.
On talent alone, he is only behind Hughes and Kakko.

The order for me is extremely fluid. They’re all basically neck and neck in my eyes, with the big exception being Byram. I think he should probably be the clear #3 of this class.

I just hope it doesn't turn into in-fighting if we take Zegras, or Byram, or whoever. For me they are interchangeable.

In terms of Cozens, Turcotte and Zegras, I think it's basically a pick 'em situation. So I'd hope we can avoid endless debate and getting into a mindset of finding every imperfection with whoever we do end up taking. I do worry that we might be over elevating Turcotte just a little though.

In terms of how they compare:

Skating - Cozens, Turcotte, Zegras
Goal Scoring - Turcotte, Cozens, Zegras
Playmaking - Zegras, Cozens, Turcotte
Awareness - Zegras, Cozens, Turcotte
Physical Maturity - Turcotte, Cozens, Zegras
Adaptability - Zegras, Turcotte, Cozens
Motor - Turcotte, Zegras, Cozens
Durability/Endurance - Cozens, Zegras, Turcotte

So there's a lot of moving around within the different categories.

Happened last year with Wahlstrom.
