There was a report I read that teams in the top 10 are very interested in Brink but are trying to be secretive about it. Hope he does go that high so other players drop

Certainly wouldn't mind if Brink was there at 20 though

I'm all about trying to move up in this draft from 20 but if we do sit at 20 we're definitely going to get a very good player.

So what I have for Rangers interviews with players are:

Forwards
Jack Hughes
Alex Turcotte
Cole Caufield
Alex Newhook
Peyton Krebs
Philip Tomasino
Ryan Suzuki
Jakob Pelletier
Ryder Donovan
Trevor Janicke

Defensemen
Philip Broberg
Moritz Seider
Cam York
Ryan Johnson
Cade Webber
Case McCarthy
Jordan Spence

I'm sure there are others though.

There’s no proof that NYR interviewed Newhook. Other than that, I can confirm the rest!!

I think Ryder Donovan will be a Ranger in 3 weeks. @Joey Bones any highlights on him? Kid is a 6”3 185 Right Shot Center with good leadership traits and a Wisconsin commit.

There are a couple of other late birthdays who are on a longer development track. I would love to walk away with Ryder Donovan, John Farinacci or John Malone.

Those are your classic 4-5 years away pick. All RH shooting centers.

This kid could be a generational instigator with that creepy stare. Really take opponents off their game.

Imagine lining up across from him on a face off and he just casually says “You keep the top drawer of your dresser locked. What are you hiding from me.........?”

I posted about it earlier in the year. He's one to look out for. Not too many players play the game the way he does. Grewe is a rat in the making. Think @Joey Bones knows a bit more about him.

Dom Fensore is another late birthday longer term prospect. He seems to be dismissed purely based on his size but he’s just so mobile, very good offensive numbers with the usdp. 4 years at BU will be good for him and you could have a Sam Girard, or Matt Grzelyc type player.

I have zeroed in on two players, defenseman Moritz Seider because he looks like the perfect stay at home monster we will need to pair with all these offensive dmen and Alex Newhook who I expect to be a dynamic offensive center. Don't know if he is second liner or first liner but I love his skillset. We would have to trade up for him. I think Seider will be available at 20 though.

Yes, Grewe is going to be THAT type of effective agitator that teams will covet. Had more penalty minutes than anything else for both J20 and the SHL (with that said, still managed to stay in the plus). But he also has a ton of skill and grind to work with as he was above PPG for Djurgardens J20 squad. Hard work and fast paced game also got him 15 games within the pro team for Djurgardens. Has an underrated stick handling ability along with a good first pass. I honestly wouldn't mind the reach for him at No. 20, depending who's there. I do think, though, he falls to the 2nd round, but will get picked up early.

The best part about all this is his very suitable nickname.... T-Rex!!

I don't have highlights, but I can give you my opinion on him....

Ryder is as raw as they come. Big, but lanky kid with very good defensive center instincts. Played in all situations with Duluth East High, but I thought his play defensively was his best attribute. Knows how to tie a player up, keeps his stick in lanes and mobile on the PK. Offense could use some work. He's got really good stick handling ability, but has that "hold onto the puck too long" syndrome and gets caught a lot trying to pull off a deke where the defender can easily poke it and go the other way on a step. Pass first mentality, but want to see him use his shot more.

The most intriguing trait he has, though, is his speed from end-to-end. He is BLAZING for a big man!! If he can go end-to-end, there's no stopping him. With that said, though, he needs to work on his explosiveness. He has a very good start up (and again once he's off he's off), but he doesn't seem to have that 2nd gear, yet, where he gets the puck in, say, the neutral zone and just explode. He needs those first few steps before really taking off. I think this will be the deciding factor on NHL career or AHL career.

All-in-all Donovan is 100% a project pick that could boom or bust. Has good awareness and ability on the defensive side of things and has a playmaking/puck control style for offense. Needs work on neutral zone entry and backcheck, explosiveness, shooting more and NEEDS to fill out his frame. NCAA training staff will be his best friend for that. I'd say, ATM, he's an early-mid 3rd round talent, who could become something special if development goes in the right direction.

I am 100% on this train. What a name, too. Savage.

Looking at the SCF, it does stand out just how much the game is about hard work, speed and the ability to play in traffic. Very big blue lines on both sides. Very few, if any, finesse players. Size at forward is not much of a factor at all, many of the grittier forwards are sub 6 ft.

Grewe, Rees, Henriksson and co fit that mold. Still so much focus is put on how these guys function in a sniper role on a PP, run a PP, roar down the wing and stuff like that.

A kid that has a lot of skill is Perron. But what type of skill? He is tremendous at stick-handling with the puck in traffic, great balance and agility.

Find the right kids, attitude is really important. It’s not hard to figure out what there is to see in a kid like Lias Andersson when you see the play out there.
It's so much about getting things done. Tenacity, being relentless. Having a plan and anticipation. Also the willingness and ability to use the body to get leverage and create space. Just being faster and bigger isn't going to cut it. That's why I always disregard a guys speed, for example. I hear people say Lias is slow but if he knows where to be first and will do anything to get there, he will prevail more often than not. Obviously just one example and maybe a bad one, in the end. But you know what I mean. These Combine numbers are trivia.

You know the Post headline if Brink gets a big contract somewhere down the line.

Yankees Win.
Mets Lose.

FYI: his name is pronounced "Gray Wuh" before everyone starts calling him "Grew"

Yeah exactly. And its so obvious when you watch them, some has it some don't. Or like, the players that at the level they are right now wait for the play to come to them instead of having the motor and anticipation to always being in the center of things and pushing the pace will have a very hard time down the road in the NHL. But sure, there are roles for that first mentioned type of players in the NHL too. But the thing is, they are often tremendously skilled.

Good spotting, the difference between the pronounciation of Grewe and Grew is so big that its hard to figure out how more than like one letter can be the same in both words.

Its like "Gr" then "eve" pronounced as the frist three letter in ever. Drag out the e's a bit. ;)

Yeah, that is certainly a kid that should garner a lot more interest if he is deemed to have growth potential. 5'7 150 lbs is small for a defender in the NHL. But the kid is darn talented.

If he is available for the TBL pick, I would love to grab him

LOL I like Marchand too - like I'd like him on our team but liking a player isn't being that player. Does anyone know if Grewe kills a lot penalties? He has some jam in the stickhandling but his shot power, release, and selection remind me of Jed Ortmeyer. Hits hard but also hits dirty like Hollweg. Looks decent on the forecheck but his speed is not great. I want shutdown and energy guys in my bottom six but Grewe looks like he's going to be serving more penalties than defending them. Really quick assessment from his Hlinka-Gretzky play. He could develop but feels like a 4th line player right now. Not nearly as good as Marchand was in his draft year.
