Pretty good if you ask me. And to be honest I completely forgot Honka was in this draft class, I guess that goes to show the year he’s hadSpeaking of going back, here were my top 10 players for the 2019 class back in June of 2018!!
Way too early top 10 incoming!!!!
1. Jack Hughes
2. Kaapo Kakko
3. Bowen Byram
4. Alex Turcotte
5. Alex Newhook
6. Vasily Podkolzin
7. Kirby Dach
8. Dylan Cozens
9. Raphael Lavoie
10. Anttoni Honka
HM: Cole Caufield, Peyton Krebs, Alex Vlasic, Matvei Guskov, Victor Soderstrom, Artemi Knyazev, Henri Nikkanen, Mikko Kokkonen, Maxim Cajkovic
Top goalies, IMO, are Spencer Knight and Dustin Wolf.
I think I got a good majority of it right!! That top 4 looks to be spot on from today's consensus. Newhook and Podkolzin will most likely go in the teens same with Lavoie. Dach and Cozens can go anywhere in that top 5-10. Honka might go in the 2nd or 3rd rounds. Some of the honorable mentions will go in the 1st round, too!!
Any thoughts?

Honestly seems like a real Rangers-esque 3rd/4th round pickHe got bounced around a lot. Started the year off well then digressed. With that said, he definitely didn't have a bad year. Just an underwhelming one....

prove it
Interviewing as a team with Wahlstrom while in tuxedos kind of backfired. He let out a fart that he thought would be silent, but it wasn't.
Or, Lazy + Party Animal. The jury is still out.
The only picks that make sense are Kakko and Johnson
That is just your opinion, no proof.
He let out a fart that he thought would be silent, but it wasn't.
Of course that's just his opinion, draft hasn't happened yet. You can't logically ask him to prove something that hasn't happened. But I'm inclined to agree with him
OK and why would 7 of my 9 picks not make sense?
#GordieClarkIsActuallyBetterAtDraftingThanYouThink
Just stop answering the troll (Irish includedStepan, Kreider, Miller, Skjei, Fast, Shestyorkin, Buchnevich, Duclair, Nieves were all good picks considering where they were selected and the career they've carved out for themselves so far.
But everyone always complains about the 1(!) pick we messed up in the first round. The one in 2010. Imagine picking Karl Alzner 4th overall, or Sasha Pokulok 14th. "But the Capitals are better than us at drafting". Or how about wasting two top-10 picks on Slater Koekkoek and Brett Connolly. Every team makes mistakes, but the Rangers "can't draft" LOL
there is an argument that can be made that our ability to draft high end players has been lacking. regardless of draft position, there is talent through out an entire draft.
we've done a pretty good job in the 2-4 rounds and some real gems later.
but our recent history hasn't been stellar with our top picks. our first round has been noticeably lacking.
imo.
this coming from someone who thinks gordie clark's retirement is long overdue.
C Alex Turcotte
He’s a high-end skater and thinker. A lower-body injury limited him to 37 games with the U18 U.S. National Team Development Program (where he was teammates with Hughes) but Turcotte had 62 points in that span. He finds teammates in tight spaces, and has the soft hands to score around the net. He has great explosiveness and a quick release. He’s committed to Wisconsin next year, but he could take a similar path as Dylan Larkin and spend one season playing collegiately, then make the jump to NHL.
C Trevor Zegras
He’s a mobile two-way forward with a top-notch creative streak and the ability to finish. (He had 26 goals and 61 assists in 60 games for the NTDP U18.) He makes plays most players don’t even think of, and has the wiliness to elude defenders one-on-one. He’s not a great skater and his defense needs improvement, but he counters what he lacks in these areas with his high hockey IQ.
@Lays
Went back in the log and the ones that were confirmed were indeed Wilde, Gross, Addison and a long conversation with Kravtsov. Heavily rumored, but no official confirmation, about the Rangers interviewing Boqvist, as well!!
I'll tell ya, going back into the old thread really was interesting. So many posters didn't like Quinn Hughes and wanted Joel Farabee badly!!
Just stop answering the troll (Irish included)
Either one of these players would be a great fit in the Rangers rebuild. If the Rangers had the opportunity to land either player in a deal for Zibanejad, they should do it.
The Rangers supposedly would like to acquire another top pick in this draft. That’s what Brooks has reported. It won’t be easy. Instead of trying to gather up enough assets to move up, just trade Zibanejad. The Rangers won’t be a better team next season but they will be a better team down the road which is what the Rangers building up for with their moves. It probably won’t be enough to get Turcotte.
Zibanejad has the most trade value on the Rangers.
I think the only fart there was in Clark's head wasting away a high draft pick. Should have taken Akil Thomas
