I gotcha, it's my opinion that the price is not worth moving up to 4 and if he falls to 9 that's not a good sign.

This logic would basically say there can never be a steal. Hey, if he’s so good, why did x other teams pass? We should avoid him because everyone else did?

Sometimes guys fall for dumb reasons but really are still amazing players. Look at Randy Moss.

I'm not going to look at Randy Moss....

No he wasn't. He didn't have to say that much though. He could have just said---'Yeah, he's a really good player and I like him. Some team's going to be lucky to get him.' And the interesting thing to me is his mentioning his hands and that he's going to be a goal scorer. And that seems to be a focal point for those who don't like Tkachuk so much--that's he's not going to be a goal scorer.

Maybe a clean up guy in front of the net, but he really hasn't shown much to be that elite goal scorer, IMO. Like I said, when I saw him, he was very unnoticeable and just stayed in front of the net while the play went on. Made some pretty bad passes, too. He definitely does play a speedy, physical game, but I don't think it's elite. He needs work and I think there are others that are more worthy of being picked ahead of him, ATM.

Quinn knows him best so we'll see, but I know what I saw on multiple viewings....

No thanks. He's like if Jimmy Vesey got to play on the Caps/Penguins, and ride shotgun with elite forwards, which inflated his stats.

I don't like Gruden's skill, IQ or defense. He's really not good at anything other than skating or working hard.

I disagree, i think Gruden has high IQ and is a very good role player. He's that kind of a guy who plays well with great players, he makes them better and though it's easier to play with great players not everyone has the ability to make great players better, Gruden has that imo.,

He won't drive a top 9 line but i Think he'll be an effective top 9 forward.

I'm intrigued by Semyon Der-Arguchintsev with our 5th rounder. Youngest player in the draft and fairly skilled to boot.

Jan Jenik and Semyon Der-Aguchintsev are the youngest draft eligible players, being born on September 15th 2000, which is the exact cut off date. Nikita Akexandrov misses the cut off by 1 day and will be draft eligible for 2019.

Yeah, it would be so strange to me to see someone take Wahlstrom over Zadina

I've alluded to this before, but I don't think there's as much of a gap between Zadina and Wahlstrom as the last few months of lists have led people to believe. They both have 35+ goal scoring upside and if you look at it from that perspective, which one of them has the oh-so-coveted RH shot?

Now, Zadina dropping to 9 seems a bit extreme, but someone jumping on Wahlstrom? Could possibly see that.

Wahlstrom is also around 6-7 months younger. I prefer Zadina but would be over the moon with either, especially at #9. I would buy a nice celebratory bottle if Zadina went at 9, to be honest. Talk about a shot at the real star player this franchise needs to build around.

Personally, I think that's a very plausible draft scenario --- though it would be somewhat mind-blowing to see Zadina drop to 9.

Not that I'd complain mind you.

Imagine the fury here if his draft goes that way, however NYR's don't select Zadina and take one of Hayton, Smith or Noel. Complete meltdown would ensue.

Wahlstrom's goal-scoring ability is probably slightly higher, Zadina's ability as an all-around offensive player is higher. But both guys are incredibly talented.

Personally, I like Zadina better by a fairly noticeable margin and think he would arguably be more the most naturally talented forward drafted by the Rangers in 27 years --- with Cherepanov being the only real challenger to the team's post-Kovalev drafts.

Having said that, if I didn't think they were likely to go with a center, I'd even dare say that Montreal taking Wahlstrom wouldn't "shock" me from a talent, value or decision standpoint.

I'd never be able to make it out of the draft party alive.

I'd turn to my wife and say, "Save yourself. Run down to Penn and take the first train you can get on. I'll fend them off as long as I can. Tell the kids I love them."

Yup, that is also a good point regarding the age difference.
