I read a couple articles today from day 1 and watched interviews posted on Youtube.
Same. There are a few good media (twitter/internet sites) that are pretty good. The kids were on the ice for about an hour and a half before they left to get on a plane. I saw all three guys from Nashville Hockey Now at practice and have already seen articles by them from that first practice. .

The local radio station that is the Flagship of the team, now they do suck.

Game is streaming on the website. Preds currently up 1-0 in the first

....and apparently the one goal was a Tampa own goal...

A TB own goal and one from Kemmel for us. TB tied it up in the second on 2 nice goals. The PP needs to get going. I am listening more than watching since I am work.

This is what I see going to Milwaukee. Sweet Jesus Christ

I don't think my last post was off by much... Burke is injured, probably one of McCarron/Jankowski would have played ahead of him anyway. Bonus points if we got Suzuki or Ponomarev from Carolina, but assuming that doesn't happen, I see:

Egor Afanaseyev - Fedor Svechkov - Joakim Kemell
Zachary L'Heureux - Mark Jankowski - Denis Gurianov
Reid Schaefer - Jasper Weatherby - Anthony Angelo
Navrin Mutter - Cal O'Reilly* - Tye Felhaber*
Kevin Wall*
Nolan Burke (IR)
Carson Gicewicz*

Marc Del Gaizo - Jake Livingstone
Spencer Stastney - Jordan Gross
Kevin Gravel - Roland McKeown
Adam Wilsby - Luke Prokop
----
Keaton Thompson* - Jack Matier
Griffin Luce*

Yaroslav Askarov
Troy Grosenick
----
Gustav Grigals*

* = AHL contract only

... with the guys below the cutoff lines going to Atlanta. I still think it's a couple forwards short of an ideal forward lineup. Hence why getting those two top F's from Carolina would really let us ice a more impressive forward group.

Do you think Milwaukee carries 8 D? And do you see Prokop getting one if those spots instead of going to the ECHL and getting to play?

I think it's entirely possibly they carry 9D. Probably the way injuries are in the NHL now, there will almost always be a guy hurt on the Preds, so somebody will always be on recall to the Preds. And it's also not impossible the Preds will carry 8D instead of 7D as we are currently projecting, who knows, maybe Del Gaizo has really impressed that much? Would be a bit of a head-scratcher, but that's still in play also.

In any of which cases they might keep both of Prokop/Matier around in Milwaukee. :dunno:

I had a slight edge to Prokop over Matier based on the rookie games I watched, but others might have liked Matier. They were close. Just Prokop being a year older and more mature, my guess went to Prokop ahead of Matier on that coin flip. Although there's certainly room for it to go the other way, OR for them both to stick in Milwaukee... OR if the organization wants them both to get even more playing time could both go to Atlanta!

Over to you Misters Taylor and Nichol...

I should add, Atlanta also has 8D under contract, so we're certainly full loaded everywhere. If we sent 3 guys to Atlanta, they probably don't want to have to feed 11D. Some big hungry boys in that group.

Maybe there is also a loan scenario out there somewhere for one of our veterans? Now that Stastney and Livingstone have cut their teeth in the NHL, I don't think it's that big a deal to have all 3 of the veteran guys (Gross, Gravel, and McKeown) around either, or for them to necessarily play every night in Milwaukee? Could suck for them to some extent to have somewhat reduced roles when they want to earn contracts for next year somewhere, but it's a development league and they're getting pretty good money for the AHL.

Anyways, probably we'll get hit with enough injuries at all levels that nobody is talking about a logjam soon enough. :(

Well and you gotta figure at some point they are going to make a decision on what to do with the log jam. I just can't get past the fact that it makes sense to move 2 of Barrie, Carrier, Fabbro or Lauzon at least just to get something out of them rather than just letting them walk away. Even more so when you have guys like Livingstone and Stastny sitting in the AHL.

I'm sure that will eventually happen too. Barrie and Carrier are UFAs, so I suspect they'll be traded if our team isn't in the playoff picture. But that's at the Trade Deadline, so plenty of time for logs to jam before that, if we aren't too cursed by injuries. The NHL has a dozen teams going over the Cap with LTIR, then another dozen teams within $2M of the Cap, then... well any team that even has room for a $2.5M or $4.5M undersized defenseman are the other 6 or 7 teams that are mostly non-playoff teams and therefore not looking... soooo... nothing will likely shake loose for several months anyway, until some pro-rated Cap space becomes available.

And even then, the "something" we get out of them could be just like a 2nd-3rd round pick for Barrie or a 5th for Carrier, so I don't think it's THAT crucial to get those returns for them. It's more along the lines of "would be kinda nice"... but tbh, I'd rather actually have the Preds in the playoffs, have Barrie doing great on the PP, and get zero for them when they walk in the summer. :dunno:

Trotz ain't worried about the playoffs so I'd stop worrying about decisions that increase those chances.

It will work itself out and if we end up cutting loose some ECHL player to make room for someone else, it's not a big deal.

Trotz would love to make the playoffs. That may not be the same as being "worried" about it... but we're not talking about increasing or decreasing anybody's perception of those chances from where we sit today. We're talking about February/March when we'll already have a very good idea whether it's a possibility or not. If we get to the Trade Deadline and we're in the playoff picture, and Tyson Barrie is playing a meaningful role in the season's success to that point... then you can be damned sure Trotz is going to keep Barrie rather than trade him for a draft pick.

We don't get to cut loose anybody, contracts are guaranteed. Some guys on AHL or ECHL contracts may have to sit around a bit or get loaned elsewhere, but I think everybody and their dog agreed very long ago that it's not a big deal... otherwise they would not have signed the guys they did to contracts. I think it will help a lot later in the season, because we saw the Ads get absolutely decimated by a combination of injuries and recalls to the Preds last year, and without a direct ECHL affiliation they were bringing in all kinds of gap-fillers just to ice a full lineup. This year they shouldn't have to do that, there are going to be guys already on hand and rarin' to go, no need to scavenge around for loaners. Having the direct link to Atlanta should be great for that.

Trotz likely still views this team as needinf a high end center prospect/player considering he was willing to pair Askarov with our 1st rouns picks to try and draft one. Goal for the season is to set this team up for future success. This includes evaluating young players, determining who to keep and who to trade, which players are part of the future, etc. If in the process of doing this, the team bottoms out and we happen on a top 5 pick then i doubt trotz would weep. Im sure that isnt his goal though just that if it happened it would benefit the long term plan.

I can see Gravel as the 6D or 7D. The Ads like to pair a veteran with a less experienced Dman. Gravel played well in the playoffs.

Looks like the Ads should be about here, now that Jankowski and Gurianov have cleared, and Kondelik is terminated...

... the only real issue is a slight overload on D. I wouldn't be shocked if they kept 9D and maybe even thought of ways to rotate Gross or somebody up front at times? :dunno:
