Trading a 24YR old Vezina contender for a 35YR old 1B/backup is about as bad of a trade as it gets.
The Dorion special. Get much older and much worse at the same time.

This season, 2nd in GAA, 2nd in SV% among goalies with 30+ games played. Prob will not be nominated because he will only have ~42ish games played, but has been playing as a top 3 goalie in the league this season.
Ullmark will win in a landslide.
Not saying Gus will be a vezina candidate at the end of the year, still loads of time left for him to not solidfy votes, but he's 2nd in GAA, save percentage, 5th in shutouts, for goalies that have played at least 30games.
Obviously playing behind Minny has a lot to do with that, but Gus is a safe bet to finish top 5 in Vezina votes
He's got a .935 SV%, which is 2nd in the entire league.
On a good defensive team but that's .30 higher than Fleury, who he's splitting starts with.
Can't say I expected Gustavsson to be doing this well but it sure would be nice to have a young #1 with all our question marks in net.

Ullmark only has 8 more decisions as we speak, so there's still time left for Gus to make it closer. Bruins won't play Ullmark every game while Minny still has to win most of their games
I think the Vezina is going to be Ullmark but Sorokin and Gustavsson should be finalists

He’s got 15 more wins, the best GAA and the best SV %. Nobody is remotely close, and will not be getting remotely close to him.

Guerin said Gus conditioning was bad and they had get him into shape, I will put that on Mann. We had him pegged as future starter but they dangled Talbot and PD went after it like a shiny new toy to a kid.
At times this year the best goalies in the league could not help our defensive play.
I was on the Gus bus till Dorion kicked us all off.
Forsberg / Soggy is our future unless Dorion makes another goalie trade which I strongly forbid until new management is in place.

Yeah like I said the Vézina is going to Ullmark but I was talking about Gustavsson eligibility; he might end close in number of decisions so he should be able to rack a lot of votes

Before the injury announcement, it seemed like a "well played, insurance ended up being worth the cost, maybe"
Now it looks horrible.
I was in the "what?" camp when the trade was announced, but I was feeling so good about the summer of Pierre and the upcoming season I didn't pay too much attention, and went along with the rationale

So he wasn't a Vezina contender when they traded him then. He was a guy with a sub .900 sv% who was struggling to outplay a wildly inconsistent Matt Murray, another guy they sent packing who has a better sv% this year than either of Talbot or Forsberg. Was the Murray deal a mistake too now in hindsight? Or do you only cherry pick the results you like the least? What a tired f***ing routine man.

I mean it was obvious Gustavsson had alot of talent. He had pedigree too, 2nd round pick top goalie at the WJC. The only poor season he had here was when they had him up and down like a yo yo and were absolutely horrendous in front of him. He outplayed Murray the previous season at 20 years old. To take a page out of your book Im tired of your f***ing routine. You never look at anything objectively you blindly defend everything the organization does then patronize people for disagreeing with you.. The organization can be commended for the good decisions and be criticized for the poor ones. This was a bad one.

Dorion has done a lot of good, but he's really bad when it comes to goaltending. The Matt Murray signing was dumb from the get-go.
I don't give a f*** about management. Get it through your thick f***ing skull. You guys just hate getting called out for your stupid bullshit all the time. And you use hindsight to make your arguments like anyone who makes a f***ing decision in a professional capacity has that benefit to aid in their judgement. He had "potential" and "pedigree"...so f***ing what? Tons of young guys have "potential" and draft pedigree. He wasn't meeting that potential, was getting outplayed by the most maligned goalie since Leclaire and didn't seem to be showing enough of an improvement to justify staking an entire season to him "potentially" playing better. That's f***ing objective, not this f***ing ongoing farce of constantly criticizing the outcome of every decision. Again, Murray is posting better numbers this year than either of Talbot or Forsberg, so was it also horrible judgement to trade him away? Would we be better with him? Hell, why didn't we just sign Samsonov in free agency? Or trade for another goalie having a great year? Who says they even wanted a young goalie to play 1B to Forsberg? Maybe they valued experience more than whatever they saw in Gustavsson. Who says Gustavsson would even be posting those numbers in Ottawa this year? Oh right, literally f***ing nothing except guys like Hale vomiting the same take into every f***ing thread over and over and over again.
