Hopefully when Hughes is back we can keep Hronek and Junior together. What a pairing. That frees up a spot for Hughes to play with and all things considered I'd love to plug Willander in with Hughes and just let him grow and develop. (Alot to ask but we gotta try it).

DPetey Hronek
Hughes Willander
MPetey Myers
Forbort Mancini

That's one of the best D corps on God's fine planet.

I agree Forbort and D-Petey are a good pair.

Myers being a right side defender likely gives him the inside track to partner with Hughes when he is back, though MP3 needs to be in the top four.

To many good defenders and not room to play them up the lineup is a great problem to have haha.

Very interesting how we started the season with one of the worst and now it's a strength. Opposite can be said with our forwards however.

This is the weird game that they do win while last night was the game usually that they would lose so yes by that deduction they will lose

Avs just tied Minny in points. So very high probability that Avs and stars meet in round 1. Neither can really catch the jets.

Central and the Atlantic 2/3 matchup are going to be major disappointments to the losing team each having given up draft capital through 26 and a couple through 27 draft. But given the ages of their key guys, taking their best shot now.

Canucks lines and D pairs same as last night. Only the goalies are different. Will get update on netminders from coach after practice - Paterson

*no Hughes at practice

Next Game
  • Playing a powerhouse tomorrow
  • Gave the Wild too much for long stretches and can’t afford to make the same mistakes against Dallas
  • Need to close quicker and read defensive situations better
  • Have to play 60 minutes against powerhouse teams; can’t let your foot off the gas
  • Are starting to get some chances but need to hit the net
  • Doesn’t matter who you play, have to be up for everything this time of season
  • Need 21 guys playing and pushing hard
  • Dallas is a very balanced team
  • Need to limit Dallas’ looks at the net
  • Good defence is having the puck on your stick; can’t be happy just clearing the puck away
Mancini
  • A lot to like about their young defencemen; mobile with good shots; think aggressively
  • He was good
  • Part of the young defenceman learning process is figuring out how to gap up properly
Goaltending
  • Silovs is starting in Abbotsford tonight
  • Felt it made more sense for Lankinen to have today off
  • Practice goalies are here early and are part of the team
Home Crowd
  • Want to give the crowd something to cheer about
  • If you give effort, the fans will be on your side
Powerplay
  • Pettersson is the key to the powerplay; when he’s moving or shooting the puck, like he did last game, it gives everyone confidence
  • Is now planning what he will do with the puck before it gets to him rather than getting it and then looking around
  • It’s okay to learn from the best; references Nikita Kucherov and how he knows he’ll get the puck back
  • Yogi does a hell of a presentation and it’s up to the players to apply it

No mention of working on practicing an alternative to flipping the puck out to center ice on repeat?

Hope for Hintz’s sake that he is okay. That was awfully reminiscent of what happened to Manng Malholtra. Apparently he was taken to hospital to have it looked at.
