I don’t hear many people complaining anymore and saying the Habs will continue to be mediocre because they can only choose their head coach among a small pool of average French speaking coaches.

It turns out, there's still very good French speaking coaches available. And I'm glad the Habs are giving them their first job in the NHL, or else nobody would.

Feeling great about Ducharme for both how he handles line usage and construction

but the galaxy brain realization here is we are also grooming another potential HC years from now with Burrows :thumbu:

This is something I am really happy the team is doing right now. We have three (Ducharme, Burrows and Bouchard) young brillant mind that we are grooming in coaching positions. That gives us a lot of options, instead of hiring someone another team didn't want to keep.

Now, I would like us to do the same thing for the GM position.

Not enough credit has been given to Habs snatching up the best of the new generation of Francophone coaches in Dom Dom & Jo Jo.

No other Francophone coach of their generation has anywhere near Dom Dom’s experience...not even former bench boss Pascal Vincent or Tourigny

Well maybe Bouchard will be the next GM. I read somewhere that it was more in his career plan.

The way the Habs are forced to look a bit deeper at younger talent is a real positive as much as a potential perceived negative (then again how did best big money english speaking coach in world Babcock work out? A lot of teams aren't doing anything like that, they decide to fire the coach and first question is if Lindy Ruff is available? Now you can see the Habs' plan that this coaching talent academy has been fully embraced and formalized with the controlled minor teams at home here in Laval & Trois Rivieres.

Maybe if he makes a mistake that directly causes the loss, it could impact his confidence ???
Meh..it's part of the process. He's only going to lose confidence if you bench him after mistakes.
So if this happens and he's a healthy scratch, that's how you crush his confidence.

Kotkaniemi deserves some credit, he’s off the leash and the vets were looking to him all last night. The team is morphing before our eyes.

Oh absolutely. The players by default get credited first. Regardless of coach, the players must execute.

That said, it's quite clear the players are more than capable of executing. It's nice to see a powerplay playing to all its strengths and not just "get it to Weber"

Is anyone not happy with anything at the moment?

Yes. We are 12-14 on the season, lost 3 of the past 5 games and 8 of the past 11. Why is everyone celebrating so much? Only 4 points clear of the playoffs. It's very likely this team misses the playoffs again this year.

There are less points between the 2nd/3rd place (3) in the standing than with the 5th place (4) and the Habs have game(s) in hands with every clubs in the division except for the Jets.

He's interim, and if the Habs miss the playoffs, Bergevin will get canned and probably (hopefully) a cleanup of the entire management.
We already know Bergevin said Ducharme is in for the remainder of the season, so there's not much to say.

So far, it's much of the same, with small flashes here and there (like with Julien a the start of the season). Coach is still making some weird decisions, and it's like they don't remember they have timeouts to use to make plans at the end of the game when they're losing.

Maybe because we appreciate what he does and we are confident he will be a good coach ? It's still very early. The games we lost, were per a low margin. We are still +14 in goals. The special units are getting better clearly. We clearly lack talent when comes OT but to me I don't care, it can only get better from now on. Comes playoff time this team will thrive (in my opinion), if they can fix defense thou, which is not a given seeing how bad Weber is doing lately. But he has turn things around before and good chances he will again. If not we will move on to our nice prospect pool. I still see a bright future for this team and I'm glad Ducharme will be part of it.
