I don't really care what the return is, Girard fills a bigger need for the Avs than just about anything that could realistically be offered for him. There's no logical reason for the Avs to consider trading their 22 year old top pairing LHD who hasn't even started his 7 year, $5m AAV extension yet.

The OP is an underpay for Domi. Bouchard is an overpay.

I haven't followed Bouchard enough to say to be honest, hence I proposed it with a question, but I think Domi on McDavids wing would be insane.

He is our top RHD prospect. He should make the jump to the NHL next season. I don't see the Oilers dealing him at all even if Domi is an intriguing option for a top line winger.

Domi won't be playing center here in any case, so it seems likely the Oilers will go after a winger.

Typical send a bunch of meh for something good.

I doubt that offer raises the Habs thermometer.

Jones is about the only decent piece in their. AA has to be qualified at 3 million and he's not worth that. JP has very little value beyond reclamation project.

Wouldn’t a Nurse/Domi trade make some sense for both teams. Without doing any research I’d think the Habs might need a small adder, but the Habs could use a big top 4 LHD. Oilers could use another offensively skilled forward.
McDavid/Dria/RNH/Domi/Yamamoto/Kassian is a pretty solid top 6

Bahahahaha. I hope the Avs sign Graves to a high-dollar longterm contract. That has potential disaster written all over it.

Habs would have no interest in Graves for the myriad of reasons discussed in previous threads. Expecting Gallagher in return is comical and out of touch.
Graves won't get a high-dollar long-term contract.

Somewhere in the region of $2.5m x 2 years - $3m x 3 years is probably where he'll land.

Sakic could tie him up for 4+ years but there's less value in that given that we'll want to maximise capspace in the next 3 years to give ourselves the best chance at winning before Mackinnon's extension, and that means that a 2-3 year deal works best.

That isn't to say that Graves doesn't deserve more AAV based on his play, but the lack of longevity in the league will limit his bargaining power.

As for Gallagher, yes Colorado would need to add. I think Gallagher stays in Montreal though, he seems to like it there.

the Avs can make a run at Gallagher and Danault next off season when they are UFAs. No one good is going to sign extensions this offseason with C19 uncertainty. The GMs will be expecting an implied C19 discount. Better for good UFAs to wait until a year from now when more is known about the future financial landscape. They’ll be UFAs next summer and Avs can call their agents at that time. No need to involve MB.

Problem is Nurse is only signed for the next two seasons as for Domi he can resign for a lot longer.

Haven’t we had enough Edmonton/Montreal proposals? They never go well and there doesn’t seem to be any common ground or consensus

Keep dreaming my friend. MB will lock them up rightbafter the Seattle draft. They are hard core Habs. Maybe you can take a swing at Dale Weise this summer... And hopefully the Avs lock up Graves at 5M if they truly believe he is a top4 dman!

I bet Graves comes in around $3.75mm aav for 2 years. We’ll see. I’d love to lock him in for that. You might be right and it’s closer to 5mm. It’s worth it for a shot blocking, strong skating, 6’5 225 lbs player that scores 10 goals a year from the back end. The leading the nhl in plus/minus at over 40 isn’t half bad either. Guy has paired well with Makar.
