Power play is now fifth in the league at 25.9%. But it's kinda flipped with the penalty kill, which fell to ninth, at 82%. Fourth in the league in goals against per game.
I’m not too worried about the PK. My eye test is telling me that Fox being out, plus our PKers seemingly taking more penalties recently has to do with it.

That was actually before their disallowed goal lmao
Most Panthers fan are not to knowledgeable and are front runners, at least the second generation here are learning about the game. Arena used to be filled with other teams fans, but with the Panthers being good that changed. And the news is covering them now. Too much competition from the Heat and Dolphins and Hurricanes.

The Brian Boyle lore on this board is what's laughable. Dorsett had more skill in his right pinky than BB has in his whole 6 foot 7 squishy frame.

Boyle was probably the best 4th line center this team has had in the past 20 years. Skill isn't the only factor there; if it was Christensen, Mitchell, or Dominic Moore would hold that mantle.

Shit, we got to watch both of them on the same team.

Brian Boyle was an underrated heart and soul guy that got constantly shit on by the smooth brains that cried because he was 6'7" and not a fighter and played in circumstances not suited for his skillset.

10 years later fighting is practically non existent and Brian Boyle is still playing and contributing for Pitt.

I think Schneids is untouchable. Right-handed D men with his set of skills is very hard to find. They traded up to get him. Young, broadway looks, leadership qualities. Can do a little bit of everything, but most importantly can play a physical game and can move the puck.

I swear there have been a few occasions where hes jumped off the bench, picked up the puck and rushed in and I honestly thought it was Gauthier for a second. Now Gauthier isnt some powerhouse of an offensive player, but he is a very strong, aggressive skater. Seeing flashes like that says something about Schneider's potential on the other side of the puck

He really looks like McDonagh. Not as much speed but his positioning and offensive instincts are noticeable.

I don't usually go in and read the other game threads, but I found it funny that it was nothing but constant bitching how they basically scored the goals for us, the refs sucked, and the announcers were pro-Rangers. I guess it's funny because it just shows that every team thinks the announcers are pro the other team. I guess maybe it's us the fans who are bias?

True - but what tips the scales on the broadcast part was none of the broadcast crew would shut up about the big bad Panther offense that was coming to get us. (and this started before the 3rd)

I'm embarrassed for them on how often they mentioned it.

I think he has 30 point potential, which is nice considering Lindgren and Robertson are never gonna be point producers.

Miller is TBD on that front, since he's still learning the defensive aspect of the game and guys like that tend to find offense later in their careers. Burns didn't hit his scoring peak until 28.

Kreider Mika Laf
Panarin Strome Kakko
??? Chytil Goodrow
Hunt Rooney Reaves

I’m not putting Gauthier in the lineup anymore. He’s a liability out there.

I think Barron should be the guy but he hasn’t forced gallant to play him. He’s been ok not great not bad. Just ok.

you get a legit top 9 player at the deadline and you’re cooking.

frankly I wouldn’t mind seeing Goodrow Chytil Kakko either if we upgrade the top 6.

lafreniere has no business on a bottom 6 line

the forward group is not better without Chytil. We are forced to play Mckegg. Rooney and Reaves are getting way too many minutes and Hunt is not on the 4th line. Chytil will help with balance and get other guys who belong on the bench or in the press box off the ice.

personally i have a different view. dont get me wrong, i dont love the bottom 6 without him, but i think its better. it gives us a real bottom 6 more or less, and while id love to add a true speed demon - and i dont view chytil as an add here...he doesnt play fast - last nights group was much harder to play against. the major issue with chytil is he is incredibly soft - watch him closely when he returns - he never supports the puck with aggression or physicality. when you iso on him for a few shifts it stands out - he never closes on guys - watch him in the d zone especially and you'll see him defending by exclusively trying to poke the puck free and does so from a distance. he doesnt compete for ice and win puck battles - ie he never fights to get inside someone and separate a puck whether its in open ice or on the wall. when he "supports" a guy in a puck battle its a flyby where he tries to poke the puck free. these things all add up to the line hes centering being a total liability defensively, because he gives away the middle of the ice defensively. offensively hes whatever, cant score for sht, poor vision, weak on the puck - hes fast and has decent hands but hes just not worth a roster spot in my eyes.

our bottom 6 last night was tough to play against...they competed for ice, they battled for pucks, they took away the middle of the ice. theres enough firepower in the top 6 to lean on for production, theres no reason to have the 3rd line thats a total defensive liability and also adds nothing offensively.

Gauthier has had a ton of opportunities. And im talking about chances to prove himself, not his obligatory hard cut to the net each game without a goal. He doesnt provide much of anything else. I could live with that if he was out there destroying the oppositions D on the forecheck and creating havoc, but that part of his game (which was never his strength) has fallen off dramatically. So defensively yeah, you could take him out and improve.

Barron has been slowly maturing his NHL game. He is making a lot of safe plays, but he is getting more bullish with the puck and on the forecheck which is what I want to see from him. I'd like to give him more time at this level as well.

Laffy needs to stick with that line. He needs time with skilled players. Im waiting for a great assist to get his playmaking juices going. The goals are coming and they are in the dirty areas. I'm hoping for more open wristers and one timers to hit twine and hell get more of those opportunities playing with Mika and Krieds drawing some attention. But its the playmaking ability im waiting for and thats only going to come with reps.

I'd be 100% ok with giving Goodrow Barron Chytil a shot. With how Gallant has handled Barron, doubt it happens.

Gallant doesn't trust any of the kids. at forward ( Kakko he does a little ). So he benches Laffy for Goodrow, and shortens the bench late game. I get trying to win the game but Laffy has been strong in his own zone. At some point he just needs to let them play, learn, grow and mature.

The hope all offseason is that Chytil would develop his 2way game. He's been lost tbh. His forechecking/relentlessness has been sporadic. He's just had a disaster season. Maybe a mental/physical reset helps him coming out of the break. They need to give him a role and he needs to accept it and dig in. He has the tools to be a phenomenal Checking Line forward. The amount of pressure he can put on the puck is a large part of the equation IMO.

A desperate team may give up a 1st for Lekhonen.. I doubt it. Hajek+2nd with a 2023 conditional pick.

Lekhonen Goodrow Chytil has the tools to be effective. We need clear define roles for our 3rd line. They need to be a relentless forechecking/matchup line IMO

I was at the game last night with my girlfriend's brother. He never watched hockey before and I gave him the warning that we are playing against a top 3 team in the league. What a game to go to for your first time eh? (I havent been in 3 years) i came in a few minutes late and I see the score is already 1 0. Im shocked but I tell my girl's brother(im just switching to friend now) just wait because I know how panthers can score like they're on crack.
The game finishes with us outhitting them (we had like 40+ hits), a strome fight and an oh so sweet victory. My friend was shocked that there could be such a physical game (they're hispanic and love soccer). He genuinely went nuts for the game and came back pretty happy. He also said that Msg was a crazy arena with amazing energy (more so than when we went to a nets game at barclays). The cherry on top of it all was a couple of panthers fans were sitting next to us and they ended up getting to leave early. The whole section started clowning on them. When they tried to tease back, we ended up booing them out of our section lol. Overall, the game was probably the best one I have ever went to. Seeing the talent on the team in person, you see how smooth they actually are. Btw I think laf's skating isnt really that bad. He just needs to work on explosion as most young ones do. And now to end my story, I shall simply state that somehow hajek looks worse in person than on tv. Mans is just clueless about where to be in the dzone.

In my humble opinion, Chytil will never live up to the hype and love that some give him (that’s a real shame) because I had all of that for him also. But he has to change his game, way to soft for the game, has size and speed which are a plus but he doesn’t seem to want to use the first attribute to his advantage. Doesn’t go into the hard areas and can’t hit the ocean from a boat at times. More valuable as a trade piece. Like I said a real shame, would’ve liked to see him become a real force on this team.

thats really my point on Barron. We’d love to see him there but you gotta push an nhl coach to play you over a veteran when you’re a 6th round pick and he’s not doing enough to do that imo.

what in the f***? boyle got over 100 more career points and has hung around in this league a lot longer than dorsett did. boyle reached double figures in goals 7 times in his career. dorsett did it once. dorsett had 4 career goals as a ranger in 85 games as ranger. if dorsett had much more skill than boyle did, he certainly didnt use that skill.

Laf just has to go to the net on rushes and keep scoring those dirty goals. From there itll blossom. Start simple and get those goals and his game will round. I have faith as longs as hes kept with Krieder and Zib. They will certainly help his game. He’s already pretty confident for a kid, imagine his swagger when hes starts scoring consistently?
Laf is second on the team in even strength goals with 10.

Steve Aoki is a waste of sperm. Was at the game and I want those 8 minutes back.

100% wtf was that and what was the occasion?

give me Jim from Canarsie with a chance to win a Toyota minivan if he can get it in the hole in the board from center ice …

John Tortarella made stiffs like Brandon Prust and Brian Boyle millionaires by teaching them the hard way to play and stick in the nhl;
Blocking shots penalty killing and dropping the gloves now and again…. Neither one of them could skate he got them to be better skaters as well.

And Robertson is coming....
And another 6’4 200 plus pounder that can skate smoothly and move the puck.
They better not trade him... he’s like the forgotten man all of a sudden.
With what we have on the right, if move Lundkvist before Robertson.

If it were up to me, Lindgren would be the Dman to move in a deal.

He's not big enough or strong enough to play the game he tries to play and he offers little offensively.
