Are they better than Vegas? They are horrible 5 v 5. Their pp would be an autogoal though
I'll deal with the 5 v 5 than the automatic power play when we give up 3 of them a game.

Plus all that speed vs Ekblad, Staal, Gudas, Staal

Nah bro come on you know this lololol

Lord if Edmonton gets eliminated, we have to, have to, have to, have to make it to the cup final.

Cause our chances aren't going to get any better lol

Well, Edmonton is out. To be honest, as someone who has watched a good grip of the WC playoffs, I don't agree with the premise here. Or rather, I didn't agree with it, as it's moot now.

Edmonton had the worst goaltending and defense of any team remaining and was surviving solely on special teams. That team is 29, 97, and a whole lot of nothing. And 29 doesn't play defense.

Also, Woodcroft is a dolt. Paul Maurice would have looked like f***ing Einstein against that guy.

If Carolinas Staal/slavin shutdowns Tkatchuk's line and Barkov does the same to Aho's line it would be down to 3rd and 4th lines. I feel comfortable with Luo-Lundell-Reinhart. Not so much with the 4th except if Lomberg comes back and brings some legs to the fourth line.

Here's the situation.

Carolina plays like we play, they are just better at it.

They are the #1 forecheck. We were two.

We have better top end talent they have better depth

Their D core as a whole are much better than ours across all 3 pairs.

If we get Leaf Bob we have the advantage in net.

Our PP is actually better (currently 2nd behind Edmonton. Shocking I know)

But Their PK is at 90% which is astounding.

I think they are much faster but we are heavier.

I'll stick to my prediction since round 1

We lose in 5
Bleak forecast but the good thing is everyone has been wrong when betting against the Cats though the logic here looks pretty convincing. Probably going 7 in my opinion and Cats stun the hockey world once again.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO PANTHERS !

If Bob plays like Bob Panthers easily win the goal tending advantage and that means everything when you have two teams that will Forecheck each other and keep down the scoring chances.

And on another note people forget that there is talent on this team that won the Presidents trophy last year. Added Chucky a gigantic addition .Yes we had a mediocre season but injuries a brutal schedule early plus adapting to a new system has a logical basis for how good we can be.

I think we're overrating Carolina in here. Who scares you on that team aside from Burns?

Aho? Over Barkov?
Necas? Over Tkachuk?
Jordan Staal over Reino?

Who's their answer for Verhaeghe, Bennett, Luosty, etc? Our forward group is better and deeper.

Their d-core is excellent, but Slavin-Pesce-Ghost-Skjei is not unbeatable by any means. I take Ekblad, Forsling, Montour, Gudas over those guys all day, everyday. This isn't the mismatch some of you are making it out to be.

At what point does one decide to go from, "we pulled 2 upsets, I'm just happy to be here" to " ok, I want the whole damn thing now." ?
We underperformed all year. Our expectations were very high coming into the season so you shouldn’t be surprised and you should expect this.

You are right that every team in this league can beat any other, on a good night.

Yet CAR was on the end of a good night most times this year. There is a reason they were the 2nd best team in the regular season - and did not choke in the first or second round like others.

We should still remain humble. The chemistry CAR has, the strategy they play, the perfect players for the right system... they are still above us - not because they have better individual players but they are very much in sync.

And we should not compare our best players with theirs. We should compare our worst players with "theirs" - our list is way longer...

If Bob is Leafs Bob they have a legit shot at winning this series and the Stanley Cup.

But I think even with Bob playing really well I think the Canes are just a bit too good at what we do. Their defensive core will make the difference IMO.

I'm OK with losing in the conference finals. Carolina was my pick to win the cup anyway, but at this point, we are so close it would be stupid not to cheer for a f***ing cup win, even if this isn't the roster we envisioned doing it.

My progression here:

I just want them to put up a good fight against Boston.
I just want them to win a game or two in the second round.
I just want them to beat Toronto because Habs and Leafs fans are that f***ing obnoxious.

And uh, I am gonna be honest, my progression has kind of stopped there. It really does feel like it's pure gravy now.
