Congratulations to the Clippers, who just handed the Lakers the worst loss in the history of the franchise (48 points).

Up until tonight, the Lakers' worst loss had been to Portland in 1995 (46 points).

For starters, the Lakers are tanking, while they're the only West Coast NBA team to be a legitimate billion-dollar team.

Also, Lakers have more than enough class they'd ban themselves from participating from a rigged lottery. Besides, small-market teams have openly expressed their jealousy towards the Lakers at one point or another before, while smart trades--especially Draft Day trades--can turn around the team. Remember how the Lakers traded Vlade Divac for Kobe? :naughty:

As for the Free Agency talk, I personally look forward to the 2016 Off-season when the Lakers sign Brian Shaw as a head coach and Kevin Love as a free agent.

This painful loss by the Lakers, in a way, is a sign Jim Buss is swallowing his pride, while aiding the team's tanking efforts.

In fact, last I checked on www.TankingForWiggins.com, that loss to the Clippers catapulted the Lakers back to the #5 overall.

I'm not sure what your getting at with this post. Except for proving my point with the above line.

He also mentioned the "Other teams have shown open jealousy"

Looking ahead 2-3 years
"Laker Hater" teams and fans

Atleast he didn't blame everything on D'Antoni.

I still remember a long list of Laker haters, which include:

Mark Cuban
Allen Iverson
Gregg Popovich
JailBlazers era
Rasheed Wallace

Also, the first Laker game I'll attend is a Hollywood Nights game vs the Warriors.

Laker hate is always the funniest and some Clippers fans remind me of Canucks fans. They're playing well and suddenly they're some kind of dynasty.

True.

If any fanbase is an expert on bad basketball, it's the Clippers.

However it's their time to shine with an excellent coach and a deep roster. For their fans' sake, I hope they take advantage of it.

Your team sucks ass and my team kicks ass. Learn to live with the present. Stop blowing things out of proportion like "wah ______ fans act like they're the best ever." As for the Laker hate, well ****, they deserve it right now.

I am not an NBA fan anymore. I thoroughly enjoyed the game during the Magic / Bird era even though I was not a fan of either team.

It is good to see the Lakers finally be unable to manipulate NBA player personnel situations to their advantage. Maybe the local radio stations will have to find something else to talk about in late April and May. I probably won't be aware of it though since I stopped listening long ago and only assume that it is still 24/7 Laker talk.

I'll openly admit that I am either jealous of the Lakers or don't understand their following or don't understand why other franchises in LA don't refuse to exist in their shadow. Case in point at Luc's Hall of Fame Gala, which is a night that should have been reserved for talking about the Kings and Luc, there was Jim Hill as master of ceremony giving us the Laker score as if it was the most important thing he had to say that evening.

Finally, someone in our section shouted "No one here cares!" I don't think he heard it though because he continued to provide updates every 10-15 minutes, which we all know for an NBA game that something like 4 minutes of clock had actually expired. I don't understand why the Kings would have Hill MC the thing in the first place and not Bob Miller or Nick Nickson. Why put yourself in a position to take a backseat to the Lakers in any way shape or form at that event?

While it's nice to do live in the present, it's always about the big picture. I stated in the tanking thread how getting the #1 overall draft picks results into immediate results in the NBA.

And speaking of living in the present in the NBA...

I rather root for that Miami nWo than later find out the hard way the Clippers are the Celtics' West Coast farm team... 4 LIFE!

Actually, kingsholygrail has a point, which is best summarized as "Ring > Ewing"; seriously, do I need to PM you rap songs that explicitly diss Ewing for winning no ring? :naughty:

As for the hate storm going the Lakers' way, it's all based in the past. Who's the logo of the NBA? A certain Laker legend by the name of Jerry West. Which team pissed off the rest of the league for trading Kwame Brown for Pau Gasol? League allowed it because Grizzlies were rebuilding and guaranteed to get Marc Gasol.

Ah, Jordan-era fatigue, perhaps?

Also, because of the Lakers, Los Angeles became and still is an NBA city.

As for "manipulating the trade", it's just good front office management.

That's how the Lakers landed #1 overalls like James Worthy and Magic Johnson, while trading for Pau Gasol and the rights for Kobe Bryant.

Whether Laker haters, let alone Clipper fans, like it or not, the L.A. will always be a Laker town. Go count the banners for reference.

I don't know what the **** you just said but did you just use the Miami Heat to make a point?

Not perhaps, definitely, and it has gotten worse not better.

It's disingenuous to say that the Lakers didn't get a little help indirectly from the rules that existed at the time and the situation some of those teams were in with some of those "deals". Same could be said for the Celtics. And because of some of this, yes the Lakers won some championships and LA became "their city".

Let's see how long that lasts, because when I first moved here all anyone talked about was the Dodgers. They were LA's team.

I once had a chance to talk to Dave Cowens on a flight a few years back, let's just say the Hornets did not willingly trade Kobe for Vlade Divac. Kobe's people told the Hornets he was not reporting there and his heart was set on being a Laker after working out with them. He threatened to play overseas if the trade request wasn't honored.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also demanded a trade out of Milwaukee to either LA or NY.

I know it's the NBA and unlike the other sports, players dictating and manipulating where they end up is accepted practice. Just pointing out a couple of facts.

As I said, at best now I would be a casual observer of the NBA, but from the little bit I heard on the TV news, etc., it would seem to me that the Chris Paul situation was the first time that the NBA ever told the Lakers, "No."

Could it be that it would have finally been just too obvious?

Well, let's not forget the old Montreal Canadiens.

But the NBAs issues are certainly more recent.

I will say it sucks to be a Lakers fan. Get **** on for decades for being one, then get **** on for the years they aren't good, too. At least as a Kings fan people left us mostly well enough alone when we sucked :P

Yes, but this comes from the Lakers getting preferential treatment for years and then finally having to eat a little ****. No one is feeling sorry for Laker fans and you certainly can't blame folks for being happy about Laker fans having to see how the other half lives.

Case and point right here. Someone has a major inferiority complex. Win a championship first and then crow all you like.

Anyway, it doesn't suck to be a Lakers fan. It sucks to be a fair weather Lakers fan because well, they're not doing well and will not do well for some time. They have a period of pain to go through for a while, but I'm not gonna suddenly convert to a Clippers fan because they're doing well now. But as far as sports teams go for me.. The Lakers are pretty far down on the totem pole. Kings and 49ers are what I pay the most attention to and I don't usually tune into basketball until after the Superbowl.

What inferiority complex are you talking about? Have you seen the way I've been behaving regarding your garbage team? We handed you your worst regular season loss ever and I was just celebrating it. If anything, you're the one showing some insecurity here with all the "win a championship first" rubbish. Was that the way you handled trash talking from rival fans before the Kings won in 2012? Didn't think so. Typical Laker fan.

Why does it get you so mad when I say the Clippers should win something first before acting like they're king of the world?

As a Kings fan I had no answer to the "win a championship" argument because the Kings hadn't won a championship. I got to crow all I liked after winning though.

Really?! We need to win a championship first before I can do any bragging? LOL! Nobody is acting like the king of the world because admittedly it was just one game but apparently, that one game was enough for Laker fans to act like drama QUEENS. I can gloat all I ****ing want!

Nucks, Blues, and Sharks fans talk **** to me all the time but I never pull the Stanley Cup card because that's only for fans who can't handle losses like a man.

It's a regular season game against an injured opponent that's likely going to get a high draft pick.

It's not like the Clippers beat a Kobe led Lakers by 40. Try to have some humility.

Who cares, dude? That's the same team that upset the Blazers in Portland and today, the Thunder were the victims. No matter how you slice it, it was the biggest margin of loss in your franchise history and it was against the in-town rivals, the ones that you used to beat all the time. I didn't see any humility from Laker fans when the Lakers would beat the **** out of those lottery Clipper teams. So why not just Clipper fans gloat? I mean, I'm the only Clipper fan on this Kings board and it's not like I'm trolling the **** out of you.
