Commence the firesale? Gasol next to go? He's the only remaining Laker worth a damn.

I'm not sure. He will earn more value in the offseason in a sign and trade. I don't think any team will be willing to give up an asset at the moment knowing the Lakers are desperate to get under the luxury tax and lose out.

The Lakers are such a ****ing circus. If they were smart they'd blow it up, clear house, and start a proper rebuild. Too bad they're ego and pride won't allow it. But I guess everyone enjoys a middling Western Conference team with no identity and no future. But hey, those Hollywood Nights jerseys look pretty sharp and should sell well.

Kupchak is in an unenviable position. He'll be criticized if he traded away Kobe and he'll be criticized for not trading him. He's in a lose/lose situation.

Kupchak needs to put on his big boy pants, make some tough moves, and get the Lakers back into contention mode. Then again, most Laker fans probably want to be a marginal playoff team instead of missing the playoffs a couple years during a rebuild.

Until then, the Lakers are a fringe playoff team coached by a clown and led by a bunch of castaways...

Jim Buss is rather pointlessly stupid for destroying any continuity whatsoever from the Phil Jackson era; even Kobe personally vouched to have Brian Shaw become the next Lakers head coach.

Since Jim Buss is running the Lakers, I dare him to trade Kobe, since he's the biggest name left from the Phil Jackson era.

Trading Kobe would be an extremely stupid thing to do. Kobe is one of the greatest players ever and the face of the Lakers.

Hiring Mike was a massive mistake. They should have literally kissed Phil's ass. I was against the Howard move from day one; I've always felt he's a massive head case and his entire tenure in LA is proof. Everyone uses the CP3 saga as an excuse, but it's played out. However, Chris Paul is a substantially better player than Dwight Howard will ever be. This offseason was a joke. The Lakers got a bunch of random players and tried to make it work. They essentially threw a bunch of **** at a wall and prayed it would work. And it hasn't.

This is exactly what they are doing though.

Hill needs to go next even if just for a trade exception/cap relief, he will get bigger offers than what he is worth. Guy is injury prone and has stamina issues which eliminates him as a starter yet some team will throw starter type money at him. Kaman in garbage if anyone takes him Lakers are lucky to save that salary as well.

Lakers are doing exactly what they should be doing, they will suck next year as well which is fine.

Keep:

Kobe-- obviously
Meeks-- since he has improved and is cheap
Marshall--very nice backup point guard, not a starter
Kelly--another good spark off the bench
Pau--if he will sign for under 8 mil and they cant find a 1st for him at the deadline

sign:

Kyle Lowry
Luol Deng

Draft pick should be somewhere 1-4 range

Embiid would be my #1 choice to build around
Wiggens #2
Exum #3

Should be another lottery pick in 2014-2015 season

2015:

Sign Kevin Love when he opts out

1 Lowry
2 Kobe
3 Deng
4 Love
5 Embiid

This lineup has defense, scoring, speed, and versatility...just need someone to coach them. b

2016:

-Kobe is in last year
-Durant replaces him and joins Hakeem #2 in Embiid
-rebuild complete

;)

That all sounds great, but I feel like Jim Buss is incompetent and stubborn enough to clear cap space so that he could pull of a Miami Heat and just sign some expensive free agents or pull off another Steve Nash like trade for an aging, over the hill veteran whose on his last legs.

Warriors > Lakers. Steph Curry is silky smooth. I just like people with the last name Curry I guess.

The NBA draft is a bigger Crapshoot than the NHL draft. You neeeever know who's gonna pan out unless your Lebron. Even Kobe was an unknown. Luckily we had Jerry West who was a master at evaluating talent. Anyways, I think I'm the only one who thinks Embiid is gonna be another Olowakandi! But what do I know!:)

I understand the unease of seeing Jim Buss take over, but even though the horse be dead and beaten lets not forget the man did trade Gasol/Odom for CP3 but due to the famous "basketball reasons" it was vetoed by Stern. They had a 2nd trade (Bynum for Howard) lined up and were rumored to have a trade for David lee contingent on all the rest.

CP3
Kobe
Artest
Lee
Howard

THAT was what Jim and Mitch had lined up. That's not pipe, the Hornets GM signed off on the trade it took a unprecedented move by the league to stop it. Exactly why I hate when I see leagues have to take control of teams like that in any sport.

Decent article by Kevin Ding about it today actually: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...build-was-set-back-by-failed-chris-paul-trade

I am in wait and see mode with Jim Buss but I definitely do not fall for all the negative press, its hard to follow a legend.

Time Warner perfectly timed their great idea of giving the Lakers their own network.

Haha, no kidding. Hilarious.

I'd like to think this was the Lakers signing Calder/Nagy/Preissing, but in this case, the GM is too stubborn/stupid to tank into a rebuild. We can only hope they suck hard despite trying to be a black hole team (which is even worse in the NBA).
