I don't want to get on the side of Sterling here. But he absolutely looked at the situation, realized he could go as hard as he wanted because PR wise there would be absolutely no blow back.

With out getting into the Jay-z thing...there are athletes all over the place that have done much worse than "racist rants". Vick is back to being a star, Ray Lewis is seen as a god in Baltimore...Dante Stallworth was actually convicted of murder! All after a few years were given "a second chance" (wether you think its right or wrong is irrelevant..I side against). i feel like this is why there are min/max sentences in the court of law (obvious this is a little different) because at times emotions demands heads roll at a time like this.

For me a suspension for the rest of this year and next + 1mil in fines woulda been around the range to save face with sponsors and not get obsessive.

It's the NBA's league. It's their business to decide what conduct will be tolerated, what won't and what punishment to hand out. The decision made is justifiable on moral grounds and is also in the best financial interests of its owners, sponsors, etc. In that sense, it was pretty much a no brainer. I doubt Silver struggled with this one at all. He probably said, "what's the biggest punishment I can hand out? . . . Ok, let's do it."

Oh, back on topic, much to my chagrin, Clippers won, 113-103.

PS: The Clippers will NEVER become the #2 team in STAPLES Center, let alone take over the Lakers for NBA Dominance in The City of Angels.

Seriously, the fact that Doc Rivers is their coach always gives me the vibe the Clippers are "Celtics West Coast". :shakehead Even the Los Angeles Kings NEVER cover Lakers banners and retired jerseys in every single Kings home game and the Los Angeles Lakers reciprocate by doing likewise with the Kings' 2012 Stanley Cup banner, conference/division titles, and retired jerseys.

On the other hand, Joey McIntyre went to STAPLES Center in Game 7 of the 2010 NBA Finals in full Celtics regalia.
 
So let me get this straight, many people believe the owner of a professional sports team who says "don't bring black people, and don't come" isn't dragging down the NBA's image? Seriously? It absolutely damages the NBA's image and especially the Clippers.

And is it actually true the bimbo who leaked all of this and is also talking is actually a crack addict? This keeps getting crazier by the day!

I also find it amusing that some reporters are saying the NBA is taking away his business and livelihood. LOLOLOLOLOL. The guy's a multi-billionaire even without the Clippers and will probably gain another half a billion after the sale.

Well, let's not stray too far off course here. He said he didn't want her bringing her black friends to the games. It's pretty specific. He's not generalizing at all.

The NBA had to act because the reaction was such that it was going to cost the Clippers not only money, but create such a fiasco as to be a disruption for the league. It was a business decision.

I don't think there's a single locker room that doesn't express bigoted ideas in their own right or are we going to pretend there isn't a real homophobia problem in the NBA?

I had not heard this, but nothing in this continuing saga surprises me anymore. An absolute loser. I heard her voice on the tapes and she isn't much smarter than Sterling. They are both morons.

And now it appears both will be rich morons.

If they did nothing about it, it would.

The fact that Dean Pelton swung the ban hammer down and banned him from Greendale for life though and got rid of Sterling for good actually elevates the league in most people's opinions. You're going to have certain wing nuts who disagree but I highly doubt they are the target market.
 
Its hilarious to me the Sterlings situation. Reading the transcript, he don't really come off as a racist, to me he sounds more like a bf who is jealous that his gf is hanging out with guys better looking than him. He seems to be trying to find bad excuse to force her not to do what she wants to do. And to pin a racist tag on a guy that dating an african/mexican decedent is just strange. To her part, V Stiviano, is no angel neither. She (probably) made the recording, she manipulated what was said in the conversation and pick the juiciest part knowing what will happen and acted totally like a saint in the transcript

But anyways, i don't feel sorry for the guy. He is a pretty bad owner and the NBA will have to do what they have to do to "control" the media storm

Well, the fact Popovich memorizes D'Antoni's no-defense tactics like a flowchart has a lot to do with that.

I still remember when Popovich led the Spurs to a 4-game sweep of the D'Antoni-led Lakers back in the 2013 NBA Playoffs and even before that, Popovich owns D'Antoni; just ask Suns fans.
 
I can't believe the Lakers have a waiting list for season tickets. Even though they didn't make it to the 2014 NBA Playoffs, it shows the faith of true Lakers fans.

Also, how long is the average wait for the Lakers season tickets?

Did I say before the first-EVER Lakers game I attended was vs the Knicks?

I'd say 3-5 years.
 
Dodgers with the sweep of the double header in which they played 21 innings. That's a damn long day.

Gonzo is a hitting machine, he's so damn consistent its not even funny. On the opposite end, Matt Kemp got paid and now sucks balls. 1 for 11 today, barely staying above the mendoza line. Imo he's fighting Beckett for the most overpriced player in baseball.
