So him being sued in a federal lawsuit in part because of saying he wont rent to black people because they smell and attract vermin is a small instance of racism? What makes this instance of him telling his gold digger not to bring black people to his games or post pictures with them different than that? This is why the league looks bad. Theyve known for years what kind of person he is but have allowed it to continue until now. If they were truly serious about being outraged, they would have done something long ago.

Like I said, the average sports fan isn't going to know or care about him not renting apartments to black people. The NBA, its hardcore fans and its players obviously know of its antics long ago but fining him a few thousand every time he says something mildly racist draws unwanted attention to the league.

So banning the guy for life and fining him $2.5M is better? What he said isnt any worse than what hes said in the past yet the punishment is off the charts? And to act outraged while levying said discipline? The league looks like a joke.

Believe it or not, in my eyes this draws positive attention to the league. It would draw negative attention if say he was given a mild punishment like a suspension. I hate the NBA, but I hate racism more than the NBA. This is a slap to the face of an NBA owner for 30 years. They not only banned him for life but charged 2.5million, harsh and cruel yet I'm applauding them for this. NHL fines are a joke, if something like this happened in the NHL Bettmann probably suspends him for a month and gives him a 100,000 fine. Then again its the NHL and it wouldn't draw a quarter as much media attention as this.

Adam Silver's response one way or another was going to be his legacy as commissioner and he handled it perfectly. There's no place for people like Sterling in society, let alone professional sports.

It maybe right but I would like to see in a few years when the owners have to vote to renew his contract if he gets it, that's when we will know if he was right.

I mean if the owners thought he was right

They had to take a bold stance due to the race of the majority of players and a large portion of the fan base. In any other sport it would've been harsh punishment but not as bad as the NBA dished out.

Most of those owners aren't idiots.

Edit: I don't have a problem with it either, just saying that the NBA would be the worst league to show a racist attitude towards black people.

No their not but if it was reversed and jay z said something like that and he has it's ok and this was brought on by a girlfriend that has and will continue to cheat on him. Now he has a history so there has to be a harsh stand but everyone knows this history and still signed and got paid from him so it seems to me that a lot of people are talking about it just to hear their voices.

To me it feels like their doing the right thing for the wrong reason and for that nobody is better off in the long run just happy for a second!

Which is why I hate hypocrites, people knew this guys past, present ETC.

They all still took his money.....Also will continue to do so.

On one hand they will crucify this guy, on the other they have no problem cashing the checks this guy writes.....It just boils my blood.

Stiviano: I don't understand, I don't see your views. They're nice guys. Dowds, Quicky, Kopi, Richie...

Sterling: Well then, if you like them so much, don't come to my games. Don't bring these toothless, scruffy ragamuffins, and don't come.

Stiviano: Do you know that they play for the hockey team that plays in the same arena as the basketball team you own?

Sterling: You just... do I know? You think I don't know what happens at the arena? I know everything that happens at the arena. Clippers, Lakers, concerts. That's it. A hockey team at Staples Center? Why the hell would they play hockey at Staples Center? The floor is made of wood, not ice. Or did your Eskimo friends not tell you that? Get lost.

and for the best part......

"In fact, just after the Kings won the Cup, a few of their players sat right next to Sterling at a Clippers game wearing their black-and-white home jerseys. Sterling asked me after the game when Staples Center started butler service and 'why the manservents were wearing those strange tuxedos with numbers.'"

I agree but he will win in the long run when he sue the sleaze ball girlfriend and the nba tmz and others for running down his name and I think he would be right to do so evening knowing he's a tool. Look at this way his cheating girlfriend was throwing in his face I don't care who you are that has to sting

As a man of non-English stock and a fan of both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Los Angeles Kings, this is hilarious.

At the end of the day, #RingArgument. :naughty::D If you got none, #DealWithIt.

I also find it amusing how many people are saying "Donald Sterling did not show remorse for his racially charged comments". The guy's a racist and was probably raised by racist parent. He's felt this way his entire life. You aren't changing him.

ya, after watching 42 that was the culture of the time. The media and government bread that into peoples minds

Like I said I support Sterling's right to say stupid things. This country is founded on free speech.

Also I find ironic, Sterling has been a racists before, no one has a problem taking this guys money though.....Players, NBA ETC.

The same players who wanted to boycott the game will have no problem collecting their checks signed by the guy....

I just find that comical.

Still Sterling is going to pay for his stupid rant, as he should.

The problem here is that he said he didn't want someone bringing a black person to his games. The NBA's been pushing to the black community for 20 years. His vocalization of this is what did him in. Goes double when it involves a black ball player who is responsible from bringing basketball back. Every major corporation has a bigot in the midst. That is not the flaw here. The flaw is the damage that he brought to the league.

This is going to change sports.

I don't think so, this has the potential to hurt the nba for years to come there will be a law suit for one and on a side note if this is the standard this commish sets he better do it the next time a player ***** someone if he doesn't it just show he's weak and bends over to the media

No he didn't want his girlfriend throwing it in his face and for going double for a black person is what's wrong with this instead of looking at human rights were looking at one races rights wait correct that it's the same race it's just some stupid line someone drew in the sand how long ago smh what a joke!! The worst part is people use it as a excuse

This isn't bending over to the media dude.

It is if he doesn't do the same to players who do worst in my opinion and that is physical harm to another and by no means do I think what he said is right but just look at the racial slurs jay z makes and it ok, it all seems like a joke to me

Jay Z makes racial "SLURS"? No he doesn't. Forbes estimated that JayZ increased the NBA popularity by 8%. That old scarecrow has hurt the NBA's image over and over again.

Yeah he does and lol I love the name old scarecrow has hurt the nba jay z hasn't because he's black and 75% of the nba is black but I fail to see how that makes it acceptable just shows how people only look at one type of hate, is not calling someone fat or Pejorative Slured a form of hate?

I'm not a rap fan. I'm a 30 year old punk fan. But Jay Z does not slur. He says the N word, but it's not a slur. There is a difference.
