Post-Game Talk: Dobby's first loss. Montreal loses to Devils, falls in PO race.

I don't want to see f***ing matheson in the Habs uniform ever again.

I think it's time to start focusing on St Louis again - team yet again is not prepared to start the game. I hate the f***ing "tired" bullshit. They work 60-80 minutes per week... WEEK... while getting millions. In comparison normal people work 40 hours a week or more just to make ends meet, and cannot afford to just not show up. f*** that fatigue excuse. Every shift should be like their last. Instead, it takes one period to just wake up, then play decent one period and then presumably tired in the third.

You all go and toot their horn how they clawed back and got a point - yee haa!!! The team did not play for 60 minutes. Period. The only person who showed up was Dobes and he deserved a lot better that matheson bullshit in OT. I hate matheson... we such burning passion.
The pro scouts are doing their jobs, and have identified game planning mechanisms to neutralize key Habs components starting w Hutson who’s hit a wall. NHL is all about continually adjusting, it’s now the Habs who need to adjust to the pro scouts identified adjustments.

He’s good if he has a lane to the net. But he’s not good if he has the puck on his stick for an extended time and is asked to be a playmaker. 3v3 demands creativity. You shouldn’t put guys out there that "don’t hurt you defensively". It’s shinny, you’re not there to shutdown opponents.
True we have few players who can break down a 3v3 and we can't play the three or four we do have the entire 5 minutes.

His decision-making is some of the worse I've ever seen in my lifetime. He's got the physical skills to be an all-star, but his hockey brain is a mess.

Every game, he kills sustained pressure in the O-zone 3-4 times with a stupid shot on shinpads or that get deflected in the crowd, when there's an obvious better alternative.

He hangs on to pucks too long when there are obvious passes to move the play along.

He makes stupid decisions all game long. It's baffling. All night long, I cursed him for stupid plays.

This guy could be so good... what a waste of skills.

The biggest issue I see with Matheson is what you mentioned….he hangs onto the puck WAY too long. If he just simplified his game and made a simple breakout pass he would be much more effective with his elite skating. It’s a shame.

The Habs don’t have the fastest top 6, so not an abundance of riches for OT.

if laine is out there, might as well put him with Dach. They lose a bit defensively but might as well make the most of Laine’s ability and try to end it.

They wouldn’t put CC with Evans. Why do it with Laine? Makes no sense.

They stepped it up big time in the third we were fortunate to come out with a point.

I was hoping the 2nd period never ended. Aside from the start of the game, and the latter part of the 2nd period, the Habs were in trouble.

If we take a step back though, the holes have been apparent for over a week now, despite the win against Tampa. They need a bit of a restart.

Sadly we don't have a lot of options. The only two forwards I feel confident with when they're on the ice 3 on 3 are Suzuki and Caufield. The rest are hit or miss.

Everyone here knows that Matheson makes terrible decisions and being that deep along the boards was definitely a poor one but Laine shouldn't have gone cross ice with that type of pressure on his linemate. Neither of them should have been out there. Carrier and Slafkovsky would have been better options.
Everyone but his coach.

MSL f***ing man crush on Matheson needs to f***ing end now.

Is it really MSL or just the perks and benefits of being a Quartexx client?

I don't care what you say about Laine's pass, Matheson could have gotten to it with an ounce of effort and he could have done anything after, other than give up a 2 on 0.

He doesn't deserve the trust and responsibilities he's given.
This is absolute nonsense.

Matheson makes his share of mistakes and I’m here all day to agree on that but that was 100 percent Laine’s fault. That’s why the camera followed him all the way to the dressing room.

He had ALL DAY to make that pass and put it behind him.

So is this something the coaches just don't see an d cannot tell him? and if he continues can St louis grow a pair and bench his ass?

Good game by Slafkovsky. He was moving his feet & battling tonight. That was a great play off the boards on the Suzuki goal. He's really important on that line due to his ability to make plays off the boards.

1st was terrible, but Canadiens fought back & didn't give up on it. Dobes was outstanding in 3rd period to get us a point. I love his ability to shake off bad goals & continue the fight (goal #2 was bad).

This might be the beginning of a losing streak. Montreal is only 2-2-1 in last 5. Winnipeg & Minnesota are next up. 2 really tough teams for us.

At least the team gets 2 days off before they meet Winnipeg.
What an absolutely brutal stretch in the schedule this has been. It’s amazing we have the record we do.
