For years? No he's had plenty of good seasons and playoffs with the habs, and bad stretches too. Overall he's been a net positive who gets shit on no matter how many times he disproves the haters
He's very inconsistent and often looks like he doesn't give a shit, people will always call out that type of player first. Doesn't make them haters imo. Plus he was overpaid for a while, with the growing cap it's less of an issue now.

He's had good moments like the 2021 playoff run and right now but I think he's been meh at best overall if we consider the whole picture and I'm being nice. Let's just agree to disagree.

What a game by Dobes. They kind of stole the game, but they've also been more on the receiving end of those.

Armia was great. Evans as well.

Newhook is starting to look better, so the team is finally getting something that actually ressembles a second line.

I thought Slaf looked really, really good. Like, better than last year even. He's had a string of good games, so hopefully he's back.

I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but this reminds me of 2007-2008 and 2003-2004, when those teams found a gear and never let up until the end.

It will really depend where they end up at the end of the year. First, they need to make the post-season, then the real season will happen and we'll sift through who needs to stay and who needs to go. They can't go with too many rookies next year however in key roles. We saw what happened with the defense and it doesn't help anyone on the team. As far as I'm concerned, Evans would be my priority. Armia I'm wary, as he's so up/down and could be an anchor contract. When he's on, he's worth another two year deal due to his defense, his play on the PK and his size. Dvorak will leave because he doesn't seem to want to play here, even though he's doing a decent job defensively and feeding his wingers. I'm not sure if he's what MSL is looking for though. As far as Savard goes, Reinbacher's injury has derailed the plan a bit. I think it was probably his spot, now I'm not sure what they'll do, but they'll need an insurance for the third spot. For now, Matheson and Carrier have locked up the first two right spots.
There was only one rookie on defense this year .... what happened with the defense is Justin Barron sucked (he was not a rookie he has 120 games of exp) and Savard could not handle top 4 duty anymore not even close. That's what happened. People need to stop with the whole we can't have any rookies next year must resign Dvorak and Armia stupidity. If a kid sucks as a 4th line center it will be easily solvable during the season. And Armia will be replaced by Demidov.

Demidov will rather replace Newhook on the second line. That brings Newhook on the third.

Suzuki, Evans, Armia, Savard & Matheson just shut it down last 2 minutes. 2 timeouts gave them time to rest. The 3 best defensive players out in the final stretch. That's coaching.

Gutsy win that was ugly at times, but they pulled it out because they never stopped working.

Dobes was fantastic. Armia was a beast. #1 line was solid. #2 line came through with offense again.

Gallagher, Dvorak & Pezzetta are being left behind by this team.

It doesn't get any easier. They get one day off then play a back-to-back which starts a 5 games in 8 days run. At least majority of it is at home.
Ever since Florida game this schedule has felt like COVID season lol every other day they play it seems and no rest

Armia should only be extended year by year as he only shows up in contract years.
He played very well last season as well after getting called back up after his 2nd stint in the AHL with 17 goals, which were a career high for him.

Getting waived and sent to the AHL last season was a real wake up call for Armia it seems and to his credit he never complained even once publicly about being waived and sent down.

Very good team player who is very much underappreciated by far too many for all the little but important things he does to help the Habs win games. I guarantee his teammates and coaches notice and appreciates him though.

He played well on contract year then got paid - and followed it up with:
2 brutal seasons, so bad he got waived.
played the rest of the year after getting called up very well, yes I I agree with that
The point is he is so inconsistent (unless it is time for a new contract) but if gets 4th line $ then sure, I'd keep him around.

I call it right now resigning Armia for 3 years will be a huge mistake. I'm surprised so many fans get fooled by his contract year.
But he's better than Gallagher tho
Like, MUCH much better
And Gallaghers signed 2 more years
So turning Gallaghers 2 years into 2 or 3 years of Armia at a much cheaper rate than 6.5M seems like a better way to go for me

There is no chance they are letting that Gallagher contract play out, they'll retain if they have to
This is about icing the best team possible these next crucial couple years

is it contract year or fact that Habs happen to be winning team? 2021 he was a beast and now this year too.

That AHL stint really woke him up. Team vibe is only going to get better so hopefully that keeps yoelle inspired. Id re-sign him easily
