Do you believe in Frederik Andersen? Would you re-sign?

The same guy who watched the 3 amigos (one a local boy) extract every last dollar from Kid Kyle ?? Sorry, can't see Andy taking a $2Mx2 haircut.
Then bye....they may decide to trade him in season if they continue to look like they won’t be legit contenders.

Perhaps but if he plays well in the playoffs, $5+mx3 is not out of the question unless they prefer to go after a $3-4m AAV goalie like a Grubauer to save some cap space.
I would actually consider trading him at the TDL. Considering there won’t be fans in Canadian buildings, there will be no playoff revenue if they were fortunate enough to win a round.

Keep in mind Freddy cost them a minimum of two playoff rounds worth of revenue.

Certainly a viable option, especially if the rumours were true that the Leafs were looking to move him last off season.

Freddy's stats are actually quite good in the playoffs but he just has a knack for letting in weak goals at the absolute worst times.

Even that is overblown.

If your goalie let's in less than 2 per game, you should win that series. That's what he did against CBJ. But people still blamed him. How can the timing be so bad on 2 goals per game that it makes the team lose?

Imagine if you could let a coach pick when his team scores, but he only gets 2 per game. Do you think his timing could be so perfect and devious that those 2 goals destroy the other teams confidence enough to lose a series? No. It's BS.

Don't get ur hopes up ... they tried hard to trade him in summer and no one saw Dubie's value ... I have heard rumours he wanted a 2022 1st rounder and a 3C or 4D at lower AAV than Freddy ... way way way to high for Freddy ... my guess no one even put forth an offer ... but I like Dubie's push to try to win a trade ... if you can't win then why trade

It looks like Andersen and Reimer are about the same.

Both guys sh*t da bed when it counts in game 7's ... both are nice guys ... but not true #1's who can win a round or two ... lets hope Woll can develop into a true #1 ... he has a chance

There's no rush to make a decision. Freddy is not getting any big offers this offseason. He's looking at a Holtby type deal at this point.

Also, I just dont trust Reimer to remain healthy while carrying the workload Andersen has given the team during his time here.

Who knows if Boston still ends up tying the game, because to this day I still wonder why did Randy Carlyle not call a timeout after the Bruins made it 4-3?

Although when Andersen was part the Leafs blowing their 4-3 lead in the 3rd period of Game 7 in 2018, this was the go ahead goal that he allowed when the score was tied at 4-4.

I can not remember Reimer allowing any bad goals against like that in the Game 7 he played in.

We need to see how this season plays out for us. His first 3 years with us he was really good, roughly a top 10 goalie in the league each year. Last year he was very significantly weaker, arguably not even a top 20 goalie.

If he’s 2019/20 Freddy (or worse) this year, we should be exploring other options. But if he can get back to how he was before, and perform well in the playoffs, I’d happily give him $5 mil x 3, maybe even more. There’s no rush, let the season play out and see how he does - was last year just an off year, then he’s back, or was it the start of a decline?

Are there any realistic UFA options in the off-season? If we're lucky he resigns for 5M x 3yrs.
I don't think that's us being "lucky" at all. Look at what UFA goalies better signed for this offseason and look at his stats. The guy doesn't have much to work with at all. His save % barely cracks the top 40
Holtby got 3 years, 4 million per. That's what he's looking at if he doesn't pick uop the play

The problem is, despite having "Good stats", Freddy was the 3rd best goalie in the Colombus series. People want him to for once be the best goalie.

"Their goalies were amazing. Thus, ours failed." What?

Goalies don't directly face each other. There's nothing Andersen can do to make the other goalie play worse. Our forwards failing to solve a CBJ goalie isn't a fault on Andersen.

So you have no issue with Andersen being 2nd 0r 3rd best every single series?

No. I would definitely have an issue with it, if it's the result of his poor play. If he's the 2nd or 3rd best goalie in a series because he stunk, that's an issue.

What can you expect him to do when his counterpart is on fire? Skate up the ice and fight him?

Andersen generally does his job, and gives us a chance to win each game and series. That's what he's supposed to do. Lots of goalies lose games for their team, and those tsams still manage to win a series. But Toronto loses and people find ways to blame it on 1 or 2 soft goals over the course of 5-7 games.

I have been a big Freddy supporter since he landed in TO. I truly think that there is no way anyone could stage a strong argument as to him being the reason why we have not succeeded in the playoffs. He has played well in 3/4 playoff runs he has had with us, and that was a behind teams that consistently ranked in the bottom half of defending in that stretch. He is a top 15 goalie in the NHL in my mind, and it will be a shame to move on from him. I just cannot see any scenario where we can bring him back making much more than what he is currently getting paid. Which should not happen, because he is worth more in my mind. That said, this next offseason will be a very interesting one for the Leafs. I am not sure the Leafs can just hand the cage to Soup. Largely unproven as a starter. I am of the mindset that he is more than capable of performing in a split, not only because of his on ice ability, but more so because of his demeaner. This guy is the ultimate teammate. If it were up to me, id ask Freddy to stay for hometown discount and if he wants to cash in (as he should) I'd shake his hand, thank him for his service and let him walk. And then go with a split Campbell/Goalie X. Part of that reasoning would be because I really want to see Campbell get a larger workload, and see if he could hack it as a starter, given it will be a contract year for him. He is a prime aged tendy with high draft pedigree. He could easily just be another late bloomer like Marky

4 x 5.5 (22 mill total) would be as far as I'd go, and I would not expect Freddy to bite personally.

I'd say his market value is similar to Marky 6 x 6 (36 million total)

In the plaI don't feel he's done is job at all. Too many soft goals and the worst times.

Less than Holtby ... Holtby won a Cup and made a few saves that decided it ... Freddy is 0 for 8 when it counts
