Why are mercenaries like Goodrow and Trouba owed special treatment? Trouba was the Rangers worst player in both the 22 & 24 playoff runs. Goodrow had a 4 goal season before a hot playoff. They were overpaid and underperforming. Changes needed to be made.

I actually think Vally could be a decent front office management. Not that i am advocating for it. But out of former players he seems like he could be successful.

Changes did need to happen but still they made it to the conference finals and then just did all the dirty laundry in front of the whole league. It was just in bad taste and completely lacked any class at all. It messed up their fragile egos. It just could have been handled so much better.

Why isn't a 5 time stanley cup champion and a guy who was considered one of the best leaders in hockey the right guy to watch over the day to day operations of an nhl hockey team as a president? Not asking him to coach, gm or any of that, just to make sure the team and gm are working together for the same goals and to be a buffer between owner and gm.

Some wholesale changes in the organization/policy that players didn't like.

Some of it makes sense (i.e. keeping players and staff separate to avoid any conflicts of interest/inappropriate relationships based on what we've seen affect other players in the league) and some of it doesn't (keeping the social media/PR team away).

Hard to have that both ways. There's the risk of inappropriate behaviors and then the siloing of different departments that erodes at the "culture."

I think everyone sucks in the situation and there's shared responsibility. The organization is trying to do what's best for business but, working with people, there's going to be consequences of treating people like assets and focusing on data.

At the same time, there's a lack of professionalism from the players, who seem to be forgetting the fact that they are hockey players who are highly paid and need to show results on the ice.

It's not what you do, it's how you do it. Hank being bought out was discussed between him and management before it took place. It didn't come as a surprise or shock. And he deserved as much because of what he meant to the organization.

The Goodrow stuff is a lesson in how not to do things in my opinion. I believe Drury took the wrong approach there.

The Trouba stuff I blame on Trouba. He had every right to do what he did in the summer. But he crossed the boss by doing so.

Regarding Brad Richards many thought he was going to be amnestied the previous offseason after Torts scratched him against Boston. He had a bit of a resurgence in 2013-2014 but he had been demoted either by or during the Final. Everyone knew the buyout was coming.
