Guessing the market for an injury prone backup making 3.8mx2 will be slow so it will cost to get a team to take him. Even if Soupy had sh1t the bed this year. Mrazek was not the answer given his recent history of injuries.
Except he’s not and never has been a “backup” there will be more teams looking for a goalie than goalies available this off-season. Even if it’s for the famous Future Considerations mrazek will be easy to move off of.

If he can return from injury and play his share of games until the end of the season, I tend to agree but if not, good luck moving him without a sweetner.

Then log off until the playoffs if that is the only thing that matters to you.

Seems like a rather simple solution.

How is it that the mods gave you a 2nd opportunity to flame me?

Logging off is the only thing that matters to me?

Oh the playoffs? No. No leaf cares about the playoffs. It takes the back seat to warm/fuzzy regular season possession stats.

He got hurt if you touched him this is largely my issue with Marazek right now.
He lost 8 in a row the season after that game 7 to take the Leafs from battling for home ice to drafting 8th overall, can't get to mad at that because that landed them Nylander but still #1 goalies don't lose 8 in a row. This is also when I fully turned on Reimer.
Game 7 is the big one, you can't blow a 4-1 lead in game 7 with about 10 minutes to go a real #1 goalie doesn't do that.
I'll just say that your opinions of what "real goalies (of various levels) do" is inaccurate, and leave it at that. Reimer is a solid goalie, but there's no reason he would want to come back here after how he was mistreated. Our goalie situation is fine.

As long as Woll can hold the fort down till Mrazek comes back they’ll be fine. If Campbell gets hurt then damn we might be in trouble.

I'd think every team in the league would be "in trouble" if their top 2 goaltenders simultaneously went down. If that happens, we probably make a move, but Campbell's playing amazing right now, and Hutch/Woll are fine as a backup for a month.

I don't why folks keep calling him that. He was brought in to play around 50% of the games this season. His injury being the only reason why that hasn't happened so far

He hasn't been a "backup" in like his last 8 years or so seasons in the league.

Mrazek was listed as out 4 weeks on November 7th, so that’s December 5th. In that time we have two more back to back situations, which is next weekend at home to Pitt saturday the 21st, and on the island on Sunday (their 2nd home game in their new barn, they play Calgary the day before) And December 4/5 in Winnipeg and Minnesota.
If you double his timeline to 8 weeks that’s Jan 2nd and you have 1 more which is two weeks later December 18/19 in Vancouver and Seattle.
There’s nothing to see here

It fits the negative Nancy narrative better when you say a back up makes $3.8m

Facts don't equal negative Nancy. He was brought in to be the backup and offered insurance should Campbell go down or take a step back. He is making 3.8x2 after this year and has been hurt the last two years. If you are a GM that would trade for that without being offered a sweetener, then I've got a bridge for sale that you might be interested in.

Call it what you want but when Soupy gets his raise, no GM will be taking Mrazek without a sweetener.
There is only one thing to call it. Mrazek is factually a tandem goalie. If we want to move Mrazek next offseason, we should have no trouble doing that without a sweetener. He's a good goalie on a fair deal.

Yup but a goalie who hasn't played more than 40 regular season games since 16/17 as a Red Wing. Yup Dubas will have no trouble moving him.

40 games is a tandem goalie. You're literally proving me correct. In fact, 40 out of Carolina's 68 games in 2019-2020 is closer to starter level than backup. He is a good goalie on a fair deal, and there should be no issues with moving him in the offseason, if it comes to that.

Since coming into the league full time (15-16) he’s played in 50 54 39 40 games out of 82 game seasons, then 40/68 in 19-20. Yeah, last year was a injury riddled one, and that carried over thus far early into the season I’ll give you that. His track record that I appreciate you posting shows that he’s played more than half of the games he’s been available to play in since coming into the league, that my friend is a starting goalie.

I thought he was the starter in Carolina. Not disputing whether he is good or bad. The fact remains that he has been injury prone the last couple of years and that makes it buyer beware, unless your name is Kyle of course.

Sure he was a #1 and a decent one at that but he has been clearly trending down. I can't see any GMs lined up to trade for him. Obviously you see it another way so let's wait to see who is right if we cross that bridge this off season.

He got treated thy way he deserved to be treated by this fan base, some of the stuff said to his wife was over the line.

But he got treated the way he deserved based on his performance in key moments

His "injury proneness" has been wildly exaggerated. There is risk with all goalies, and I'm not sure on what basis you're suggesting that Dubas wasn't aware of Mrazek's history? Just because a goalie has been injured in the past, it doesn't mean every GM that signs him after that is stupid, which seems to be your suggestion. His injuries are probably why we were able to get him for only 3.8m on a shorter term. Mrazek has some of the best medical resources available to him here, and should be able to play for a good portion of the season, behind a good team and defense. All it takes is a simple look at the goalie market to see that Dubas shouldn't have any trouble moving Mrazek in the offseason, if it comes to that, unless he completely bombs upon his return, which is unlikely.

Andersen is 32, completely bombed last year+, and has dealt with multiple injuries over the past couple years, and he still had teams willing to pay him more than Mrazek. Heck, look at the likes of Holtby and Jones, who have been complete garbage for years, and still got multi-million dollar contracts.

No, he most certainly did not.

No, he most certainly did not.

I will give you that but Andy took a 0.5m pay cut to go to the Canes while Leafs gave Mrazek a 675k raise.
