Unfortunately it’s the most expensive one that is injured
Would you be happier if it were Campbell, who is cheaper injured?

Aside from 19-20, he’s been fine. And that year he got pretty tough, throw you to the wolves usage. That's irrelevant to his time here he's nowhere near 500 here and given the talent that has played him here that's unacceptable

I mean you could have brought back Rittich, signed Halak, traded for Kempeur, traded for Nedelkovich (Sp?) Carolina gave him away for essentially nothing.
There were tons of options Dubas went with the most injury prone one there was because his track record with goaltending isn't good even with getting Campbell right.
It would be interesting to go back, and see how many times you've had panic threads/posts about goalies. It was about how bad Hutch was going to be last year, and how it was a disgrace he was originally the fourth option for us.... Then he went 4-2-1...![]()
I have no idea how to spell his name either so I'll just call him Ned. If Hurricanes and Leafs could have made a trade where Ned comes this way for a third round pick yes I'm on board with that over Mrazek. I wouldn't call that tons of options though. Not trading for him doesn't make Mrazek a failure. Takes two to tango in trades we have no idea why Hurricanes agreed to the Wings and didn't shop to others. It was totally out of the blue.
Losing a first rounder and giving (edit- as in cap room) Kuemper 4.5 mil would have been a massive mistake. Campbell is a no.1 now, you agree so yourself.
They started this exact thread on the main boards this morning as well…It would be interesting to go back, and see how many times you've had panic threads/posts about goalies. Not sure how they're relevant? So didn't think you would mind. In the off-season we don't know if Campbell will repeat his performance. Not only is the sample small, but the variety is small as well. Double damage. They're not even names worth looking at in this case. Halak is 36 and Rittich...I mean what do we really want to say about Rittich. We're cup contenders not middle of the pack team to have a tandem with Rittich as 1B. Yes, today we know it wouldn't be a tandem but we didn't know this in the off-season.I notice you didn't mention Halak or Rittich

Mrazek at 29 years old > Halak at 36 years old. Halak is currently a backup on one of the worst performing teams in the league.
Specifics was for better examples than Mrazek though given the circumstances. I assume by now we're on the same page on what those circumstances are. The names have to make sense. You askef me for specifics I gave you 4 examples off the top of my head I figured you'd address them all.
For the record I probably would have went with Halak or Kempeur.
It does get brought up constantly by the lesser lights on here, yes.The bolded seems to come up often when discussing Dubas.
No but I would be happier if Dubas hadn’t signed a goalie with a history of injury to a 3 year dealWould you be happier if it were Campbell, who is cheaper injured?
I think you will see he will be better against NHL competition than AHL competition .. I know that sounds crazy but I expect it to occur .. Woll is a big game tender .. just ask Mitch I don't think he has ever scored on him (not even joking here) .. now I know Mitch can't shoot but he can't deke him out either .. but he must improve his game beyond being a great 1 on 1 tender (he is better then anyone we got including Soup 1 on 1) .. Leafs will need to change their defensive game a bit and stop all passing lanes and force teams to fire away 1 on 1 .. although league already likely knows this by now .. but who knows Sabres might notMost are going to say no right off the bat but I'm not so sure.
As it stand Marazek iw out until December, Hutch is travelling with the Marlies and so that means as of now Joseph Woll is scheduled to start vs Buffalo on Saturday unless Keefe loses his mind and starts him Friday against Calgary which would be downright stupid.
Even assuming Woll is starting vs Buffalo I'm not sure you can do that.
I know it's just Buffalo but Woll's AHL numbers are garbage I'm not sure putting him in an NHL game is a good idea even against Buffalo.

I don’t understand how the goaltending situation was managed at all. They paid Mrazek 3.8 for 3 years while saying Campbell will have the starting role until proven otherwise. Mrazek as advertised has been frequently injured. So I don’t know if we need a temporary goalie now, but rather a starter for next year while also factoring in that Mrazek already makes 3.8 on a cash strapped team. Some of Dubas’ decisions really have me wondering wtf he’s thinking
I doubt Reimer wanted to come back here after the disgusting way he was treated by fans and media.Personally, I thought Reimer was a far better choice at 1 less year and $1.5m less -- giving the Leafs the most likable goaltending tandem in the league by far -- but the Mrazek signing wasn't completely baseless.

No. No, he didn't. Even with the trend of players who leave the Leafs becoming wildly, wildly overrated by Leaf fans in retrospect, he's still generally seen as a worse goalie than he is; largely because of the game 7 playoff game. I see no reason why Reimer would want to return here.Reimer always got a fair shake from the fans and media

There is the game 7 playoff game, but it's not just that.
He was wildly inconsistent.
He got hurt if you touched him this is largely my issue with Marazek right now.
He lost 8 in a row the season after that game 7 to take the Leafs from battling for home ice to drafting 8th overall, can't get to mad at that because that landed them Nylander but still #1 goalies don't lose 8 in a row. This is also when I fully turned on Reimer.
Game 7 is the big one, you can't blow a 4-1 lead in game 7 with about 10 minutes to go a real #1 goalie doesn't do that.
Game 7 was the last straw for a lot of people but it was FAR from the only reason.
I wouldn't say Game 7 was the last straw for Reimer because he did play another 3 years in Toronto after that catastrophe, though the Leafs did go out and get Bernier so they never really trusted him after that. For sure.
Reimer is like a Mrazek level platoon goalie who had his profile raised to an established NHL starter in a big market. So I think he received scrutiny at a level of a bigger star player but he obviously didn't have the abilities to meet those expectations.
OMG. What a terrible result tonight. The sky is falling. Th sky is falling. Most are going to say no right off the bat but I'm not so sure.
