We just can't predict how other teams games will go - the Leafs beat CBJ handily last night, how many saw that one coming?

The Bruins just need to win....plain and simple. No one is going to help them. The last few teams hanging by their fingernails and other teams wanting to play spoiler.

I have. I just actually think the Islanders have more winable games then the Bruins

The NYI's play: Pitt, Boston, Nashville, Philly, New Jersey, Buffalo, Nashville, Carolina, New Jersey, Ottawa

I think they beat NJD (2) Carolina, Buffalo and Boston. That is 10 points.
Puts them ahead of Boston based on how I think the Bruins will do.
I hope I am wrong but after the last 2 years, It's hard to not feel this way.

If Bruins can win tonight, than beat Islanders ,they will be six up on them, and have the tiebreaker,Bruins can be in great shape as long as they win next two games .If they lose them than your probably right.

Yeah this team is showing more heart than the last two seasons but the results are the same. The Isles are creeping up on them. They won't make it. Nor do I want this team to. They need high draft picks and to blow up this roster.

This post right here is garbage. You don't want them to make it??? So your not a fan??? Hate to break it to you but them finishing 9th ain't landing a McDavid or a Matthews. No matter the outcome everyone on this board knows this team is not a contender and needs a big change, but to not want them to make it is garbage!!

Don't just be a fan when they are winning

I know, after the last 3 it is tough to have any confidence but it's one game at a time.
The start, is a win tonight then hopefully a win on Saturday.

Those are as close to must win games as you can get. I cannot say must win games because they would not be officially out if the lost them.

You should expect the teams that have their backs up against the wall to win, I think. That's why Leafs over Jackets shouldn't come as a surprise, despite the difference in points. I wish the same could be said about the Bruins.

These next two games are massive.

To put it in perspective, right now the Bruins max out at 100 points.

Lose these two in regulation, and they max out at 96 points if they win their last 7 games

And Game 82 is against the Caps who they are win-less against in all 8 games the last 3 seasons.

96 points didn't get them to the dance in 2014-15.

everyone is concerned with the NYI, but Carolina is slowly sneaking there way back in the picture. I would keep and eye on what is happening with them, especially if they pull out a win tonight vs Montreal.

Meh. if they win both games in hand they're still 3 points back. NYI is 2 points back with a game in hand and we play them Saturday. They are far and away the biggest threat.

Wow... take out the non-playoff contending teams that list looks ugly.

4 wins against playoff bound teams and 6 losses against playoff bound teams.

3/23 TB (potential playoff team)
3/25 NYI (potential playoff team)
3/28 Nashville (playoff team)
3/30 Dallas (non-playoff team)
4/1 Florida (currently non-playoff team)
4/2 Chicago (playoff team)
4/4 TB (potential playoff team)
4/6 Ottawa (playoff team)
4/8 Capitals (playoff team)

Only playing 2 teams that are out of it. Playing 3 games against potential playoff teams they are in direct competition against. It looks a lot uglier than I thought. I remember someone posting how the Bruins had the easiest ending schedule... well, looks like they are screwing that up royally.

I'm not worried about Tampa. The Islanders are who i worry about.

All the teams we are competing with have games in hand.

But the Bruins have the tie-breaker against all of them.

NYI has 4 Home and 6 Away games remaining.

If the Bruins close the year playing barely 500 (5-4-0), Isles would need at least 6-3-1 to pass them.

I'm not worried about Tor, NYI or TB. Bruins will start winning again and get in. Hopefully as the 3rd seed in Atlantic...

That tie-breaker is useless if they Bruins don't have more points after all is said and done.

Toronto is already ahead of Boston, and the Isle's need 1 more point than them. That's not exactly a stretch, to say the least.

Leafs @ 83 can collect 20 more points, tops 102 points.
Bruins @ 82 can collect 18 more points, tops 100 points.
Islanders @ 80 can collect 20 more, tops 100 points.
Lightning @ 77 can collect 20 more points, tops 97 points.

Subtract the losses (loss points from that total as we go) Who has the most at the end will likely be in it. Yes, Bruins win the tie, but they need the tie in order for that to matter.

Two of those teams will make the playoffs. IF all the teams perform the same, the Bruins will make it. But it's all in the Bruins own hands whether they are one of them or not.

It will take less than that this year.

NYI needs 8-2-0 to reach 96pts.
TB needs 9-0-1 to reach 96pts.

One of these two teams needs to pass the Bruins for them to miss. Neither will...

Last year, they missed because of the tie-breaker. This year, they have it over every team. They will get in if tied. That's an advantage.

Yes, I know the results last year. And the tie-breaker.

I know it's an advantage, but I'm saying the Bruins still need to at least tie. That could be a problem for them at this stage.

It's meaningless if the Leafs end up with 95, Islanders end up with 95, and the Bruins end up 94.
