If I never hear this dishonest phrase again I'll live a happy and content life.

Nothing dishonest about it Mike.

They themselves even admitted fielding offers for draft picks to send Eriksson elsewhere. Didn't get an offer that met their liking, decided to keep him for themselves.

Any time a team keeps a UFA that other teams were interested in acquiring rather than dealing him at the deadline, they are essentially renting the player themselves if he walks.

Nothing really wrong with that, I wasn't knocking Sweeney when I said it, even though I didn't like it at the time.

Alas, I couldn't go an hour without hearing it again.

How do you rent something that you own?
:huh:

They can't. It was a completely hyperbolic statement. And I say this as a poster that agrees with a lot of what BruinDust has to say. He was here all year. He was not a rental. It was a giant ****ing mistake by Sweeney to not deal Loui. At no point does anything make that not true. The only way Sweeney could have made that mistake bigger is by resigning him. Thankfully that did not come to pass.

After last night's results, I have lost hope. I look at Tampa and the Isles pushing - I haven't seen that recently from the Bruins. I was optimistic during their winning streak but that came to an abrupt end.

At least this time I didn't fully buy into the "90+ percent" of getting in. Been there, done that....

Prove me wrong Bruins.

Still remember all the we're all set talk at the trade deadline for the last 3 years. Don't mortgage the furture or rebuild for the playoffs

What rebuild? What future? The only future we have is longer off-seasons and more excuses for Charlie's chokes (previously the Boston Bruins). The chickens have come home to roost for this fan base.

This team could have improved at least 10% with the addition of Travis Konecny, Jacob Chychrun and the addition of Mike Condon for a lower draft pick.

Jacob would have been a great addition to the D., Travis could have really improved the 3rd Line and moved up if required. Just look what Condon has done for Ottawa.

McAvoy better be something or is it just the management trying to keep people on board for the time being.

8 games to go including today. Unless Toronto absolutely falls apart, if they get in it's as the #8. Realistically they need to win 5+ to get in.

Bruins remaining -- 8 Games (6H/2A) - 82 points
@NYI
NSH
DAL
FLA
@CHI
TB
OTT
WSH

Isles remaining -- 9 Games (4H/5A) - 82 points
BOS
NSH
@PHI
NJ
@BUF
@NSH
@CAR
@NJ
OTT

Tampa Bay remaining -- 8 Games (5H/3A) - 81 points (1 back)
CHI
DET
MTL
DAL
@BOS
@TOR
@MTL
BUF

If they lose/don't win in regulation today, they are toast.

If Boston can win today in regulation, assuming NYI wins their game in hand, it's 3 teams with 8 games remaining separated by 3 points, battling essentially for the right to meet the Atlantic Division champ. It will basically be anyone's ball-game at that point with a slight edge to the Islanders.

Lose in regulation and it's hard to see them getting in.

Yeah, a loss in regulation today pretty much ends their season IMO.

Bruins absolutely need to win today and next week against Tampa, and find 3-4 other wins out of the remaining 6 games.

The good news is, if they all end up tied, Bruins get in because of ROW, as they are up 3 on NYI and 4 on TB. Even though the Isle winning last night sucked, at least it was via SO.

You look around the league and may think, "How could the Jackets lose to the Leafs?", or "Thanks a lot for losing to the Islanders, Pittsburgh." In reality, those teams are just doing what they should be expected to do with their backs up against the wall. The Bruins are the exception, and they've been the exception for the last 3 seasons. It's pretty pathetic really.
