I’ll say yes, but Luke’s draft year needs another 1-2 years before we can truly answer. Right now Kent Johnson and Dylan Guenther are making arguments, and Wyatt Johnston is having a bit of a down year but could easily bounce right back. Luke looks stellar this year. But it’s difficult to call it. Quinn and Jack? Absolutely.

Jack and Quinn for sure but it’s too early to say for Luke. Right now it would be between Luke, Johnston and Guenther but there’s other guys that could pass them too.

2018: I like Dahlin a lot and I think he could be the best dman in the league if he wasn't in Buffalo. Hard to choose between him and Hughes. I think Dahlin still goes #1 but barely.

2019: Seider is an animal and at his best is the most dominant player on the ice but I think it's still gotta be Jack at #1.

2021: My pre-draft was Johnson at 1 and Luke at 2 and I still feel perfectly comfortable with that. That 2021 crop looks great.

It really isn't hard. One has a Norris and is on track for another. The other isn't.

Hell, I'd place odds that Quinn wins a Hart before Dahlin wins a Norris. This isn't a knock on Dahlin, but rather a commentary on an amazing class of young d-men.

Jack and Luke to first, but Quinn probably a hair outside the top 5 from his draft year...
Please list those ahead of him in a redraft...curious to see who you list ahead of him....

If I'm reading this correctly, there are 5 others you would take ahead of Quinn? Please list who.

I wouldn't take this poster seriously, think he is just stirring the pot. In another thread he listed his top Dmen in the league and Hughes wasn't even included there:

As an objective and neutral observer:

Fox
Heiskanen
Werenski
Hedman
Morrissey
Carlson
Dahlin
Seider
Chabot
Hronek

HM: Slavin, Josi, Sanderson, McAvoy, Hamilton

I know, and I love Quinn. But a draft is about "projection" and I "project" that Dahlin would be in the discussion for best defenseman in the league if he wasn't in Buffalo. He came back, got 4 assists and Buffalo finally won a game after 13 losses. I think if the draft was held tomorrow and you had these 24 years old defensemen, I think there's a good chance Dahlin still goes first, but it would very obviously be hard to pass on Quinn. I know that's not a popular opinion but to me they are 1 and 2 in the league and I think with time Dahlin will prove that he is at that level. There is something very wrong in Buffalo and every player that gets traded out plays vastly better. Not only that, but among these players, Dahlin is the one who has looked the best by far (imo) in that situation, so if he'd get out... I think we are in for a giant surprise.

Having said that I also fully support the opinion that all 3 Hughes could go 1st. Taking any of the Hughes at #1 is as safe of a bet as you could get... I'm just being a little contradictory to bring a little discussion and make it more fun :P

Not really stirring the pot. It’s just M2B’s schtick. There was no Makar on that list either.

A reminder: The Sabres literally put up a video entitled "This Is How We Win" that was about fixing the roof of their shitty dilapidated arena.

In a redraft, the only GMs picking Dahlin over Hughes are the kind the we all look at in the vein of Jim Benning, Mike Milbury, Pierre Dorion etc.
