Yes , that was your goal post move, after proven wrong on post TDL injuries, you needed to narrow your criteria, and even then it was still wrong, there were more injuries than just Norris.

Time to move along dude, or just admit you were wrong, like a lot of us do, when proven wrong. Either works.
I spoke specifically about the western road trip that sunk our season post trade deadline.

Your last ditch effort to sound like a smart ass was to be like “uhhh Norris was still injured post trade deadline!” If you want to have a discussion about coaching and injuries that may or may not have affected the coaching.( which you clearly don’t you just want to be a pest ) then I’m down for that.

So you’ve pointed out Norris was injured the whole year. Because you thought I said he was back after the deadline? That’s your mistake. Not mine.

I felt the same. Probably hasn't had a chance to step back and take inventory. Still making excuses and adding too many voices to that list.
Too many voices over the last 5 games ..what’s the excuse before that lol. Oh yeah injuries. The

Your making it worse, I never said that about Norris either, good grief, are you trying to be obtuse.

Here’s a refresher from the initial post I responded to, ( the highlights bolded) and you’ll see I agreed with your points discussed lol, except for one point. You’re making a mountain out of a molehill, like usual.

Wtf was DJ talking about during that interview lol.

“If someone mad at my coaching was so good they’d be in the nHL!”

Bro I didn’t suggest the sens replace you with me. I suggested they replace you with a better coach. Does he not grasp that concept? But he probably doesn’t. Still talking about f***ing health. Dude you’re missing a second pairing d man and your team is playing horrendous hockey. Last year post trade deadline you were missing your second line Center. He really expects 100% health.

Nice guy. Treats others with respect. And that counts for something in life. Definitely a bit of a bozo tho and clear where tkatchuk and stutzle get some of their dumbass attitude towards the fans and towards the game in general.

Also he did not sound happy about Martin being brought in as advisor.

Then do your f***ing job better.

I agree on the other parts, except, for the injuries part, seemed to never have a healthy team. Wasn’t he missing both goalies, Chychurn, Chabot, Greig for a while post TDL as well as Norris.

Hopefully that’s the end of it, it is for me.

I totally agree. A former post stated that the team became deflated after the softie (3rd goal). I've noticed they become deflated as soon as the opponent score a goal. Their play started changing after Arizona scored their 1st goal. Our goalies would have to produce shutouts for this team to play well the entire game. Even then, I think they'd take their foot off the gas at some point. There's a reason once goalies leave Ottawa, their stats improve dramatically. Korpi had good numbers before he got here. Goalies can also lose focus during a game. How about the team bailing him out once in awhile? He's certainly done it for them time and time again.
I didn't understand why Jacques didn't call a time out after the second goal was scored. You're right, this team doesn't react well to getting scored on, and so having them settled down for a minute wouldn't be a bad idea.

“Jacques is one of the smartest hockey guys that I’ve been around,” Sullivan said. “There isn’t a hat he hasn’t worn in hockey operations during his time in the NHL. He was invaluable to our coaching staff in helping us win Stanley Cups and he was invaluable to me as a head coach.

“He’s a great voice of reason and a really astute hockey guy. What really impressed about Jacques is just his work ethic and his attention to detail with the duties we assigned to him. He prides himself in preparation and it comes through to the players loud and clear.

“I can’t say enough about him as a person and as a hockey coach he’s just top-notch. He’s an intelligent guy and there hasn’t been too many experiences, both good and bad that hasn’t been through during his time, and I think he brings a wealth of that experience to the table. I think so highly of him as a coach but even more so as a person.”

We are PUMPED!!

The older posters like myself are well aware of what Martin’s system was in the late 90’s but since he had a short stint in Montreal as the HC im wondering if he ran the same system.

Could you elaborate on it for me please? :)
In Montreal it was a very defensive, puck possession based system. Are you familiar with Kevin Constantine? Sort of like him. Efficient system but stifles offense. Cammalleri could've had like 40 goals but at the same time Halak wouldn't have had the run he did.

I think he's gonna do awesome with Sanderson.

I think Jacques could be a very good GM because of his past experience as a coach and his maturity. He is a cerebral person.

Listening to 1200 you realize it wasn’t DJ’s coaching or system that has hurt the teams confidence it’s DJ getting fired that has hurt the players confidence, after the Captain speaks out for him and the players clearly liked playing for DJ and DJ and the players who were given a fair fair shake and he still lost his job. Think the players might be taking DJ’s firing hard on themselves.

Can't overstate how important it was to cut Smith loose. He is not an NHL caliber coach and the new ownership group's fetish being smarter than the fan base had to take a back seat.

The season is lost already, unfortunately. Staios and Andlauer pissed the season away the second they decided to give this coach a 5th kick at the can.

That segment of the fan base should buy their own team and run it. They obviously are way smarter than owners that made their millions through business smarts, as well as the professionals that work for NHL teams. :sarcasm:

Owners?
What owners are you referring to, with the professionalism and smarts?

I really like listening to Martin doing the post game interviews. He's clearly smart, and he's got a ton of experience and i just like the way he talks about the game.
Anyone else notice in his post game presser tonight Martin mentioned Michael Andlauer ( not Staois) called him initially about the Senior Advisor role a few weeks back ... then he spoke to Staois after ...

In before Dracula tells us there is no way Andlauer helping with hockey operations decisions.

I don’t care who, it was a great decision.

It’s okay… just tell’em kids they don’t know the fundamentals, Jacques.

Here is the thing, they don't. Otherwise we wouldn't be a last place in conference given the expectations.

It's not the junior B fundamentals we lack, it's NHL fundamentals that if you do the details right we have an improved PK.

Nice to hear a coach say something relevant instead of spinning the wheel of excuses. I like a forechecking team. Bring back our pesky sens vibe. Martin taking over is a huge win, too bad it wasn't done during the sale.

None of them (or very few of them ) have ever been fired in any job before.

They'll get over it, as I'm sure Claude Giroux already has.

Indeed, it was the only decision.
Glad they eventually got to where fans have been for quite some time.

“You want the players to play with a lot of emotion, but at the same time it’s to be controlled. During a game you’re going to have some highs and lows and sometimes you don’t control the result. A lot of times with young players they tend to measure their success with whether they’re getting points or not.”

“That’s important but for me it’s not the end-all,” Martin said. “When you look at our young players, they’re very talented offensively. Our task as coaches is to make them better at playing the 200-foot game.”

“When he got to Detroit he was having 130-point seasons but they weren’t winning Cups. Then Scotty Bowman came and got (Yzerman) to understand how you’ve got to round up your game. Then, they won championships and they won Cups,” Martin said.

“It’s a similar challenge here. I look at our young core, and our key guys, they’ve got skill but they’ve got to improve away from the puck. It’s much rewarded to win as a team than just getting points.”
