Confirmed with Link: DJ Smith fired, Jacques Martin in as interim, Alfie as assistant

I agree on the other parts, except, for the injuries part, seemed to never have a healthy team. Wasn’t he missing both goalies, Chychurn, Chabot, Greig for a while post TDL as well as Norris.

What shocks me is a that a player like Giroux bought into DJs nonsense. Obviously DJ did a great job in building team cohesion. But, to me, it begs a question: Do these guys care more about the comraderie they've developed, or doing whatever it takes to win the grand prize?

Hopefully, they were so disillusioned by DJ that they come around. Alfie, I think, is someone that can get through to them. We've never seen someone more committed to bringing a winners mentality than Alfie.
We don’t know what Girouxs objectives are to finish his career

Our strongest roster last year came during our second worst stretch.

In fact I thought we were worse post tdl than we were to start the year.

This year we are out missing our second line d man during our worst stretch of hockey. That’s it.

People would understand if we were regularly good and then hiccup when we hit the injury bug. But I mean they’re injuries can’t be an excuse for some of the defensive hockey we’ve seen over the last two years.

Have to say I disagree completely.

If anything it's been more than professional, giving DJ a more than honest chance to turn this around, not caving into pressure, letting him coach AFTER the embarrassment that was the Florida game, letting him before Sens fans had the chance to roast DJ right before Christmas at the next home game vs Pittsburgh
Ok now do the same assessment but pretend Dorion was still the GM. You feel the same way?

Our goaltending has sucked for so long it's hard to even get a pulse on what a team looks like with a competent tender.

Its a shame that 20 million this summer only got us more of the same.
I guess I wonder if we start playing better team D if the goaltending will go from bad to at least average. I think it could. Maybe, or hopefully, we will find out.

Post tdl we left our rookie goalies out to dry every single game and played our way out of the playoffs. Chychrun and chabot were both there.

If you can’t play respectable hockey because of a few injuries..that’s poor coaching. Lots of teams have injuries. That don’t self destruct because of them

Injuries man.

Have you watched Arizona! much this year? I suspect if you had, you probably wouldn't be acting as though it's shocking they can dominate another team. Would you have been less shocked if say NJD, TBL or heck even Car that had done so?

Heck, we've dominated teams for 20 mins this year, it's a league of parity, if you aren't paying attention to the details, pretty much any team can dominate against you. Thinking that it's just Arizona! is the kind of complacency that allows teams to get dominated.
Man. It’s the NHL. Teams are good. What Arizona did to us in the second and third period…. That was teams in two different leagues. And unacceptable. And Martin I THINK believes so too.

DJ may blame that performance on injuries..I don’t think Martin will

Like yeah to normal people every team is sick. But the sens are also an NHL team. If you’re saying Nearly every post game “hey what do you expect… the other team is good!” It may be time to accept our team is actually shit.. RELATIVELY speaking to the NHL

If HF boards put together a hockey team I understand. Yeah we will get dominated and obliterated.

But you can’t use that for our NHL team lol as often as some do

Injuries man.
Injuries will always be the excuse for defenders of this coach. The same coach got a comparable record with Batherson and Ryan playing less than a 1/3 of the season and only having 1 top pairing dman.

No Chychurn and Chabot both got injured post TDL, around second last, to last week of March.

No goalies. Chabot, Chychurn , Greig, Norris, like I said. Not sure if missing others, those are the ones I remember.

If you’re going to make a point, make it an accurate one, at least. Don’t need to exaggerate, to make it look better, when in fact takes away from it.

The games that ultimately killed our season. That western stretch. Started in Chicago. And then the win in Seattle. Then Vancouver. Then THINK Calgary. That’s the stretch I’m talking about. Where we were absolute dog shit. Like it was just odd man rushes against all game long (this is clearly an exaggeration, there were not 2 on 1s all game long- I legit can’t believe I need to say this) chychrun was definitely there because he scored against Seattle in the one win.

I can’t give you an exact date on chabot being out. But he was also there.

Those games were not on Soogard

In FACT in that stretch the games we were respectable in were the ones where the goalies stood on their head lol. We hung each out to dry.

And even if you say “well. Chabot was out in x game”. You should still be able to play respectable hockey without
I’m reading he was injured march 29. So…. Well after that utter collapse lmfao.

He missed two games at the end of the collapse. Is he was there to Chicago and Vancouver. I think our two worst games of the season

And AGAIN. I actually don’t give a f***. Couple injuries should not make a good team implode. Should definitely make a bad team with bad coaching implode tho. Which is what happened

f*** sakes the team isn’t even good when it’s healthy! The org finally had enough and we are actually healthy right now. Go watch the last few games. The team is healthy.

Disclaimer RELATIVELY healthy!!!

Don't let facts ruin a good narative
read the point Genius. I said 6 feet or shorter

Now get on HockeyDB and see listed heights.. And you are clever enough to know, that many stats are inflated.. especially height!!!

so a 6' 0" is most probably 5' 11"..

so correct all the 6' 0" guys.. correct all the 6' 1". And you end up at a fair amount of 5' 11" to 6' 0"

And even at 6 foot, at best you can carry 190 lbs before it bogs you down. Now play a physical game and see how long you last.

@BondraTime please stop drawing joy from Stugatzes.. You are one of the few guys on here with a brain in your head

Come on, we were playing goalies #6 and #7 in the organization's depth charts. This is not even remotely close to "lots of teams have injuries that don't self destruct".

Tychonick was 5'11 and a half.
listed as 6' on hockeydb

Many players are UPsized.. it is a practice as old as old can be.. you add 1/2" to 1" to every player and 10 lbs.... specifically to smaller guys.. there is no need to upsize a Tyler Klevin.

get on hockeydb and see every player stat, for those shorter than 6' 1", you can almost knock off 1/2" to 1" of height.

Have you not been watching JBD.. see when they huddle to celebrate a goal.. Most of his team-mates are taller than him.. I would be shocked if he is remotely the 6' they list him as.. He too is most likely a 5' 11", 5' 11.5" guy

We were playing goalies 3 and 5 essentially. And leaving them out to dry.

Oh and when talbot came back we continued to be horrible. Oh and at the start of the year didn’t we Stuart like 6-12 and whatever? Point is don’t matter who’s on the team. DJ is gonna get you the same results.

But yes Norris was out. And sub was out for a bit too. How could we expect anything respectable.

Yes, injuries are a valid excuse. We're not talking about 13th forwards and depth defensemen.

We currently have Joseph, Chabot and Pinto out. Yes or no: Would this team be better if you replaced Hamonic, MacEwen and Parker/Kastelic with Chabot, Joseph and Pinto?

Man. Saying “Joseph pinto and chabot are out!” Is not helping anyone.

Like if a team can’t withstand those injuries you are well and truly f***ed.

Joseph also just got injured. We have looked terrible with Joseph in the lineup. We’ve looked terrible with chabot in the lineup. We’ve looked ghastly with pinto in the lineup.

But yeah you’ll say yeah but when they were in, other guys were injured.

That’s just life man. This team needs to play better when some guys are injured. Other teams do it.

Boston lost their two top centers and mcavoy spent some time injured this year. Please don’t look at their record.

But I guess Bergeron and krejci didn’t get injured. So..doesn’t count? I dono.

Can you explain to me how this roster, even with Joseph, Chabot, and Pinto out is underperforming our 2019-2020 team with Tierney as our #1C, Zaitsev on our #1 D pair?

If injuries are that critical (obviously they are), then factor those same injuries into the DJs first year as a coach here, because he had to deal with injuries that year too.
If you compare the two rosters only using guys who remained relatively uninjured, then take out Batherson and Bobby Ryan from that 19-20 team and compare the rosters.
One of these is legit a AHL team and the other is can't even afford to bring in a 3c because we're right at the cap. We give up more goals per game after 5 years of "development" and have an inferior win percentage.

Even without Chabot: Sandy, Chych, Zub, Brann, JBD, and Hamonic is significantly better than Zaitsev, Hainsey and Boro.

Ah yes, if we just change all the numbers to match what you said, then you are right.
Damn bro, how did you come up with these smarts. If I just add a 0 to my salary I make a million dollars a year too!

You said Norris was only injury post trade deadline, I was just correcting that nothing else.

Now that you’ve changed that to the western road trip, then both goalies were also out for that. Just including facts nothing more.
