Ukraine - GB 2:1.

They repeated last year's final game almost down to the minute. Rough finish for the British, but they got to not lose in the last five minutes of these games.

Still a chance for Lithuania to get promotion though, if they beat Croatia in regulation. Otherwise Ukraine will be going back up.

Lol, GB. They should hire a psychologist for the next year. And now Lithuania has a very real chance to get promotion, who would have thought.

Seriously, I don't even know how to feel. Obviously I'm excited for the game against Croatia but getting promoted with one of the worst teams we sent to WC in recent memory which suffered a 8-0 loss in the process.. That's quite ridiculous.

Great win for Italy in a quite close match. Did not see the first period, Italy played great in the second while Poland came back strong in the last one.
Egger checked into the polish bench was rather fun to watch..
Italy needs to fix the pp if they hope to do something good though.
Great forecheck but lack of ideas in the offensive zone, Scandella huge on the boards as usual and great goaltending.
Great arena, it looked packed.

That is not the start the Poles were looking for. They had an outside shot of promotion and that looks pretty iffy already.

Actually analysts were giving them a closer shot for relegation than promotion. People are easily deceived by the Hungary match, but that speaks more about the weakness of Hungary than the strength of Poland. People tend to severely overrate Hungary and by extension Poland after beating them...the drop off between Slovenia, Austria and then Hungary/Poland/Italy is pretty major.

I was surprised too but Italy has been surprisingly solid also they avoided playing half of the match in Pk as they often do.
I still think that the gap between Poland and Austria/Slovenia is smaller than ever even though it's not closed.
I think that this year anyone can beat anyone it's goin to be a close race.
Japan also is capable of stealing points even though they had a harsh game with Slovenia.

Closer than ever like how Finland and Canada are closer than ever? ...their top player is their french league goalie...Italy has not been surprisingly solid they've been expectedly solid...

Japan may be the favorites for relegation after Korea nationalized Dalon and Regan.

Austria are doing terrible...still haven't scored...

Lool, korea leading, this is hilarious, same as in 2014

Poland were asleep for the first period, and throughout the game woke up, but too little too late. The Italian defense did a great job blocking shots, I wasn't able to find statistics on blocked shots for this game, but I'm sure the Italians had quite a bit. Odrobny was like 10' outside the crease on the second goal, don't know what he was thinking but he's the type of player usually finds a way to let in a stinker. If Poland keeps playing like this, they'll be fighting to the end to stay in Div. 1A, 3rd place finish would be a huge success.

Well, Austria don't look like they have a powerhouse on hand. They will need a late flurry to avoid a Korean sucker punch

Korea with all the imports is pretty good, but this game was like a long joke that stopped being funny long ago...

Oh well, too bad. That would be a miracle if Lithuania promoted. Congrats to Ukraine anyway!

Well, it's as one Austria fan put it. "Someone took the clowns from the circus, put them in jerseys and substituted them for the national team." Took SO to beat Korea...

Haudum still isn't ready to play with the men, good speed and good explosiveness but still a boy. None of the B-teamers stepped up, in fact they were pretty embarrassing, extremely embarrassing game overall...

That Dalton kid, he's pretty good.

Nobody in Italy expected any solidity. Brand new team, young and not so experienced. Good plays mixed with weird black outs, that is what it was expected, for sure not solidity.
Not goin to complain, though, if the team keeps on being this hard to crack then the promotion (which would be a great upset since according to the plan the team is expected to be a serious contender for promotion not before 3-4 more years) can be reached.
When I say that the gap is smaller then ever is mostly because Slovenia and Austria (and of course Italy) are no longer the teams that will "automatically" get promoted, Austria specially has lost quite some quality.
This year, and most likely the next ones as well, they will actually have to fight to get promoted, it is no longer a "we only have one real match and it will determine whether we get promoted as first or second". Of course Austria and Slovenia are the favourites, but the chanches for an upset this year are concrete.

...but yeah, the polish goalie had some weird journeys around the ice and the second goal was quite a soft one. On the other side Andreas Bernard has been great, but that is expected since he is probably the best player in the roster.
