Rough third for Japan. They took a hooking penalty then took a Delay of game while trying to kill it. Kazakhstan scored on the PP then Japan takes another Delay of game which Kazakhstan scores on again. Now they take too many men on the ice lol just so many silly penalties to take.

Penalties seem to have been the defining feature of the game. I'm just going off the IIHF updates, but it looks like so many penalties decided it, first for Japan then for Kazakhstan. Including some bad ones like too many men and a checking to the head; those are easily avoidable and certainly didn't help anyone.

Poor Japan. they have zero points yet every game lost was by one goal. no matter who they play. Seams they do have skill but either no confidence or no luck. to bad. very interesting score though hehe
tomorrow Croatia plays!! D2A starts

Game between Great Britain and Japan to decide relegation then.

Britain just can't lose in regulation and they will be alright. Though getting shutout to Ukraine may not help their confidence for tomorrow.

Big battle for promotion. Any of France, Italy or Kazakhstan can still make it, provided the right combination of wins happens for each team.

3 teams can be promoted, two relegated tomorrow;

Italy:
- A win in regulation.
- A win in OT with a French win of any kind against Kazakhstan
- A loss in OT and an OT French win.
- A loss in OT and an OT Kazakhstan win.
- A regulation loss and an OT French win.

Kazakhstan:
- A win in regulation and a regulation Italian loss.
- A win in regulation and an OT Italian loss.
- A win in OT and a regulation Italian loss.

France:
- A regulation win and regulation Italian loss.

Think that is all the promotion ones. GB just need a point to stay up.

Japan has good skill, but they lose battles due to their size.

Being short is going to be a problem for a lot of Asian nations in team sports going forward.

If they win in OT the beat KAZ can do is win in regulation to tie Italy. Italy has the tiebreaker with the head to head win.

a Italy win of any kind and they will be promoted

Yes, they will help us big time...but only next year in D2B against China, Iceland, Australia, Spain...:laugh:

Is it really that bad? You think there's no chance against Romania today? Their Roster is a bit smaller and lighter, that may help...

There is always a chance, but realisticly speaking everything but convincing Romanian victory would be huge huge suprise.

^I know literally nothing about these teams so I don't know how Croatia has dropped off from past years but last year you were competitive in D1B, didn't score much at all but the most you gave up in any game was 5. No blowouts.

The year before that you were extremely competitive in D1B, couple blowouts in the 1st 2 games but positive goal differential in the final 3 including beating Italy who looks like they will promote this year.

Now I understand there's tremendous, close to 100% turnover in the U20 teams but usually programs don't drop off a cliff from 1 year to the next.

it's quite rare for a country to get relegated 2 years in a row, drop 2 levels.

Even with a massive dropoff compared to last year, last year you would have beaten most of these teams, I don't see them steamrolling you guys based on that alone.

But like I said I'm basing this 100% on normal expectations, I have no clue what your team is like but I'll be optimistic and say they don't get relegated :)

Any streams for D1A?

Can anyone elaborate on how Poland are expected to do?

They are a big unknown to me.

In 2010. Croatia beat Poland 6:5 and send them do Division 2 (it was an old format). I know that four years past since than and that whole generation of players in U20 team changed, but I doubt that they improved to the level where they can beat or take a point from Denmark/Latvia.

Thanks, wouldn't have thought that they have gone down like this.

Well, that is our reallity. During our journey in D1/D1B we have had few players that covered all our weakness (mostly our lack of depth) and thanks to them we managed to beat Italy, Japan, tied with Austria (after they got relegated from elite level), almost tied with Kazahstan (their 4th goal was irregular). But after Rendulic, Petar Trstenjak, Lazic, Kanaet, Silovic, Markovic and goalie Tomljenovic "retired" from U20 team, this is what is expected from this team.

So far it looks like Denmark and Latvia will be the main contenders for promotion.
