True dat. I was kind of expecting them to be the weakest team but they are by far better than Poles.

Although if Zabolotny out-duels any of those Slovenian kids in goal.. Because they look baaad

5 goals let in, in 12 sog. That's either horrible goaltending, horrible D, a combination of both, OR Latvia are VERY effective.

Or a mix of all of those components.. The game is going a bit differently than the last one against Poland where some kind of excitement, even if inferior one, was saved till the last period.

Poland was way better at desperate defending than Slovenia is. Yeah, their goalkeeping doesn't help. Any coherent effort ends up being a goal.

For sure

Oh well..

Aaand 6-0 it is !

Edit: 7-0 on 18SOG  period 2. ended.

Yep, that 7th goal should of never happened. Yikes goalie...

Anyway, Slovenia PP isn't half bad. They can find an open skater if our pkillers get carried away with pressuring the puck. Once they won't face dominant opposition, they could score plenty on opened up Poland's defense.

Absolutely. That stretch at the beginning of the game before the first goal happened out of nowhere - shots were 7-1 for Slovenia and Latvians had to take few minors - really showed they can play. But yup, at the D zone things get ugly fast for them.

Yay, double digits :handclap:

But seriously, the one man which has really impressed me today is Luka Gracnar. How did he manage a 0.941 save percentage behind Slovenia's defense last year is beyond me.

Is Bleugers on the team?

It's Bluegers and he is not. Neither are Bukarts and Girgensons.

Poland and Denmark just about to get underway. I don't expect Poland to win, but I do hope that they can at least score a goal, and maybe even make Denmark work a bit for the win.

Again special teams just killing Poland in the early going, I think Poland could perhaps beat Slovenia and stay up.

As for Slovenia getting destroyed, they will only learn from this, I don't consider it a downside.

Sucky thing is why put this tournament in Poland when they're a potential regulation team? It would have been much better in Latvia or Denmark.

This tournament would be held in Latvia or Denmark every two years then. You need some change-up and Poland seems to be a great choice, what's wrong with it?
