Meanwhile...

Don’t blame him. He was never going to get the full time job and likely would have been replaced by the assistants of the new guy, so if he was presented a full time gig elsewhere it makes sense that he’d take the job security.

Benzema taking the LIV money and going to the Saudi league is huge. One year after getting the last minute FU from Mbappe I don’t see them going back for him, which leaves only a couple guys who are truly the caliber to lead the line at Madrid. I understand Kane wanting to become the EPL career goal leader but going to a team that has won 5 recent champions leagues isn’t an opportunity that comes every day. That also makes Levy happy as he isn’t going to be lining up against Spuds twice a year moving forward. If I’m Kane I go to Madrid without a second thought if they come knocking and I can’t see how they won’t.

Caicedo would be an amazing get. Obvious upgrade over Thomas and Jorghino, imo. And only 21.
Caicedo is a different type of player IMO. If they are indeed looking to bring in Rice also, and my understanding is they are the front runners for him, then their 6 and 8 positions are going to change a reasonable amount with Xhaka then leaving, which I think is a mistake.

They played a lot of 4-1-4-1 last season with Partey and later Jorghino playing the deep lying midfield role and Xhaka getting forward to compliment Odegaard in the central attacking midfield area. This was by far Xhaka’s best season in north London as he was finally freed up to play the attacking 8 role, which is his natural position.

Caicedo is a much more defensive 8 or a 6 depending on what he is asked to do. Rice is an all around 6 who can also be a very good 8. That is a different look than what they showed this year, more 4-2-3-1 with twin pivots of Rice and Caicedo and more of the playmaking/offensive on Odegaard.

They need another option in CD in case Saliba goes down again and a different type of RB IMO before they need a 2nd new CM but as long as the plan is to get at least one of those at the back I can accept a decision to turn the CM over I guess.

He’s chasing that Saudi bag….but he would have torn up the PL.
Yeah he’s taking the LIV money. The amount they are talking about is absolutely absurd, $400 million over 2 years. I’m not positive but I believe he was ‘only’ making in the $30 mil per year range with Madrid.

He got a piece of the MLS Apple streaming pie.

This is HUGE for MLS. "Mlols" is dead. We are a real big boy league now.

Looks like I’ll be going to a DC United game this year. My five year old is obsessed with soccer and with Messi, he’s actually getting a full Argentina Messi kit for his birthday soon. This is cool.

Edit: holy hell the prices have already skyrocketed. Cheapest ticket against Philly the week after is $29, the cheapest ticket vs Miami is $145.

"I had to come to Paris, stay in a hotel for a long time with my family, with my children going to school and still being in the hotel," Messi said.

"We never, ever wanted to come [to Paris]. It was very, very, very difficult, but the family supports me and it is a collective decision, not only mine.

There is a tinge of sadness for them now, because while it was hard for them at the beginning, they are now more adapted to Paris.”

"[But] I have just had two years in which things were not great for the family and I didn't enjoy it. That month was spectacular for me when we won the World Cup, but apart from that, it has been a difficult time for me."

Well that should turn every PSG fan against him for good lol…..
