Just to double check, we're talking about Jacob Markström? And the 2023-24 season?
Jacob Markstrom was 3rd in the NHL in GSAx last year.

Will he play as well as he did last year? unlikely, goalies are volatile and he's 35.

But yes, if he plays as well as he did last year, yes he likely is in the Vezina conversation.

Lmfao so true - its hilarious how people dont realize its called the 'Garden State' for a reason

Theyve seen some Sopranos and think its all Jersey City
It is literally the most urbanized state in the US. If you think that name is anything other than a joke, please leave your zip code for the first time in your life.

It’s also full of really rich suburbs that a lot of kids growing up in NYC hope to move to. I know I wanted that lifestyle instead of the buildings in the Bronx with few options to play soccer.

New Jersey is 30th in forestry coverage and 11th in farmland coverage

The most densely-populated state and it still has roughly 45% of its land space taken up by agriculture

Read a book lmfao

If the season ends today they win the presidents trophy by a lopsided margin. Looking good for the devils.

I can see NJ having a really good regular season, 98-102 pts but with Keefe and his lack of adaptability he under preforms in the post season

Man, the GSAx difference between sites is wild. Moneypuck has him 9th last season, nowhere near the top 3, and with a good but not great /60 rate. Evolving hockey has him clearly in the top 3 despite missing a bunch of games.

Always liked him, so I'm hoping for a repeat.

They looked great against the Sabres, but its still the Sabres. They're one J Hughes injury away from being mediocre.

Where do you get your info..... X?🤣
Couldn't find an appropriate census excel file, but here's a handy dandy map of urbanized land from this census report:

Notice how New Jersey has basically no white in it? Notice how it's nearly all in purple? Connecticut is the only state that even comes close to just how developed New Jersey is. We'll caveat that Rhode Island is too small to really judge.

Seriously, did you real think the state at the very core of the northeast megalopolis would be remotely competitive in this in any way? The Garden State thing dates to the days of Johnny Appleseed and has long since failed to reflect real world development patterns. There may still be a farm or two around, but apart from DC, which is not in fact a state, you're the national leaders in paving over paradise to put up a parking lot.

Long story short my friend played for him and mentioned how he's difficult. Like if you don't have chemistry with a player and it's based on skill-set, an example being a guy like Kessel couldn't play with Crosby or Malkin, but played better with Bonino and Hagelin. If a guy like Kessel/Crosby/Malkin said that he'll basically ignore you or act like he's above you and says how it's his team because he's a head coach as it's a workplace not a place for friends or drama. When in reality that's what it usually is, sure as a manager myself it's a place to work but you don't want as little tension as possible. Once in a while he threatens to try and have you traded or sent to the minors if you don't co-operate.

My prediction with Keefe is he's not going to see eye to eye with how players are rolled out, line-ups, starting goaltenders or certain gameplans.

Honestly, the guy has a good coaching mindset, like I said extremely smart but super stubborn and acts like he's in full control while also expecting people to brown-nose him.
Didn't Kessel put up career high points playing next to Malkin?

"The toxic garden that smells like sulfur state"?

"The I-95 is constantly under construction state"?

Gonna need a bigger license plate

I ♥️ N.Y.

Even the Statue of Liberty turns her back on New Jersey!

Jersey barely loses out on being in the playoffs when NYI win their last game of the season in OT to take the last spot!
