Bratt putting on the brakes and making that Sabre crash into the boards was beautiful

You can't really tell from the TV highlight, but Bratt had to HUSTLE to beat that icing and set Jack up.

Bratt had a weird night as Jack set him up for a hat tricks worth of goals and he biffed them all.

He also broke some ankles along the boards in the 3rd I think. Just made some Sabre look utterly foolish

Also, I don’t know how Luke looked on tv but up close he looked great. He’s freakishly talented, you can see it right away.

Same. You could tell he was playing a safe game overall, but he had moments where he talent shone through with some great passes and a really nice walk along the line

Kids going to be great. I don't think he looked out of place at all.

Jack is also right that Luke got a bigger ovation then he did. Luke chants all night

Other than the fall down that resulted in the scoring chance in tight (and a hell of a save by VV) I thought Luke looked decent for a first NHL game. Dano was pumping his tires hard all night and I get everyone wants him to be everything Jack is but my fair eval is he got some challenging shifts a couple of times and looked perfectly fine and stayed within his game and made a couple slick plays.

Future is bright for sure.

I'd like to see another game from Luke before the playoffs. No reason not to give one of the defensemen a rest before the playoffs start and give him one last game for this season. I thought he looked really uncomfortable and timid the whole game. Kind of feeling everything out and definitely seemed to lack confidence for a while trying to not make any mistakes. Loosened up a little in the third, but I wish I saw him actually take advantage of his unique skillset to a higher degree, and I think another game would be good for that, especially with the stakes being relatively low in the grand scheme of things. Someone's gotta fix his skates, though, kept wiping out. Got burned a couple of times defensively but its his first game, can't really blame him too much.

I would like him to get another game too but I actually thought he looked comfortable with the 11 minutes he got. As you said, he opened up a little more in the 3rd, and made a very nice play along the line to feed Tatar, but I thought he seemed comfortable with the pace and speed of the game, didn't look out of place at all imo.

If by comfortable you mean willing to 100% play his game, then I agree, he was most likely trying to play a safer brand of hockey. I thought he held his own in his own zone too.

Luke looked like he fit in, especially after the first period. Couple really nice plays but mostly I’d describe his ice time as solid, not spectacular.

Which given the circumstances, is great.
Yup, first game, that's what you want. You want him to get settled in and make him see he can play. I liked his first game. Can't wait until next year tbh.

Bought tickets for Thursday, haven't been to a road game since a game at the Islanders when Jagr scored his 700th goal and I only went to that because of it potentially being Marty's last game as a Devil cause of the rumors of him being traded since it was the last game before the trade deadline. .

Bratt’s been playing some really good hockey down the stretch lately. He broke some ankles in Boston too. Namely Lindholm in the 3rd. And of course Ullmark in the 1st.

I thought Luke had several 'system' mistakes where he did a decent hockey play but it wasn't what Ruff wants him to do.

He had the obvious missed man, that made him fall over, then his guy got a free shot on Vancek.

Overall didn't do a whole lot but its his first NHL game.

I've gone 180 on re-signing Tatar

I thought he was done with 20 goal seasons after last year

I wonder if we can get him for one year? Unfortunately, I think they'll let him walk and give Holtz a chance, but I'm not sure Holtz can replace him. I haven't seen anything from Holtz to lead me to believe he'll be as good as this year's Tatar, though he could be better than last year's Tatar and next year's Tatar, if there's any regression.
Wait with this until after he gets healthy scratched in the playoffs.:sarcasm:
