Bratt was awful down the stretch and had never played that long of a season before. After the All-Star Break in 2018 he had 1 goal and 4 assists in 27 games with a 45% on-ice xG.

That's true.

He really was laboring and struggling.

He seemed to have run out of gas basically (he needed to improve his conditioning in the offseason, which he apparently did).

THAT SAID, I would've liked for him to have seen more than just one game, though.

But whatever.

As someone stated, we weren't winning that series anyway (and at least that Tampa team won the Cup so it's not like we lost to a team who then lost to someone else).

The Sabres were clearly pressing hard to keep their playoff hopes alive, and we totally choked them out in the third. xGF% for the first 40 minutes aside, that is clearly a positive.

And we are entering the point of the season where I don't care how the wins come. In the playoffs, it's the old Al Davis motto: Just Win, Baby!
