I do have a selfie of me and one of my favorite musicians, which is really cool. Not many people get to meet their favorite musicians. He was really nice and I felt like a fangirl meeting him. I seen him walking down a street before a gig outside the club he was playing at that night. I called out to him before he crossed the street and he turned right around and ran towards me to meet me. My friends actually know him and some have played with him before, but he had no idea of my connection to them when we met, so he was genuinely nice. Not because ''This guy knows so and so, so I better be nice to him because he's a friend of friends!''.

In my world he's a god, but he's hardly even famous. He can probably walk into a restaurant in my town and there's a 90% chance that no one would even know who the hell he is.

I assume we're talking about the Jack Hughes autograph thing, I saw that thing on twitter and paid no attention. He's a 23 year old dude who was forced to be there, some people relish that stuff and some people don't. Don't have to make the issue bigger than it is

It doesn't help when the negative shit gets publicized and the positive interactions don't always. I actually went there just to get my Dougie jersey autographed, had my Nico one signed last year and figured I could wait on Jack another year or three but Dougie might not be around as long so why not. He asked me if I wanted it personalized, I said no thanks - I saw later on social media where he literally did that with everyone, good on him.

Of course his line wasn't QUITE as long as Jack or Nico's either, when your line is that long you don't always have the time to be mister sunshine with everyone, especially since you risk annoying more people at the back of the line if time runs out.

On a related note I was a little concerned that Timo was apparently doing the signing after being held of practice with back spasms, sitting in a chair for a couple hours couldn't be ideal but I guess this is a minor thing for now.

He's a nice guy off the ice/TV. One think I learned early on, and you might like this one, he didn't really like goalies.

He was a Hell of team player his years in Rochester. Protected his teammates like they were his own kids.

Knew the game and explained it simply and clearly to those he coached.

I’m fine with him being so proudly Canadian and Ontarian and having a bias for those players. It’s like Minnesota people loving the players from Minnesota or teams that have a lot of Minnesota boys.

But I thought he took the European bias too far a lot of the times.

And him berating Ron MacLean (who was so spineless and rarely stood up to him) about not being pro-Iraq war was enough to sour me on him forever. And I still didn’t really know much about Don Cherry by 2003, due to not getting the exposure of him cause I wasn’t Canadian and not having viral access to him like we do today with the internet.

I’m guessing this was at a team sanctioned/season ticket holders event and not a public signing? As I’m pretty sure players are paid to show up to a public even.

It’s probably a joke salary for them though, because no one can afford to spend thousands and thousands to bring them in. Jack Hughes grosses approximately $104k per game. An afternoon signing at the mall or sporting goods store can’t possibly bring in enough money to pay him something like that.

I can imagine someone calling him up and saying “we’ll pay you $20k-30k to show up for 3 hours and signing” and him being like “what a joke! I make that in 4 minutes of ice time!”.

Carolina is 4-2 against playoff teams from last season (one of them being Boston). The Rags are 2-2

For reference, the Devils are 4-4 but with more games played.

This doesnt negate their impressive starts nor does it mean we are poor against good competition; though I do feel it gives good context to their current records and ours with one of the toughest starting schedules (of any NHL team) since Covid

Jack is young and still wears his heart and emotions on his sleeve; this isnt necessarily a bad thing, but its also liable to come across as it clearly did to someone

This doesnt make it right or wrong but it does mean he should work on his ability to be cordial, even if it pains him to do so. Most of us have to do that in our daily lives, athletes are no different (nor does he think that Im sure)

And no Im not siding with the person who brought all of this up, at all. Just stating what adults who are kind tend to do.

I too dont know most people I run into and converse with; but its always best to put up a fake face and a façade that Im enjoying their company than it is to engage the opposite

I say this as someone who would rather Jack not give himself the agita of dealing with such interactions than giving the other person the satisfaction they desire. It only strengthens Jack to learn how to deal with such things with a smile

And as other have said, if he was great with the kids then there is no need to discuss it further with him. Only for his own personal gain would I, if I was a close friend, say something about the above comments I made

There was that time he was playing beach volleyball on the Shore with some of his US Hockey buddies and talking to some young women. He told them you have to "play here" and pointed to his chest. He clarified, "your heart, not your boobs."

Other than that he's been a good boy, I think. Plus I don't think his girlfriend would appreciate that behavior anyway.

I saw Jack Hughes at a grocery store in Jersey yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying.

The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

I read this exact story somewhere about someone else. I thought it was real the first time.

Now I wanna know where this story originates from. It was word for word, other than changing the name of the other person to Jack Hughes and this other story was taking place somewhere else. Not in Jersey.
