Ya know, I really like this Fitzgerald guy. He might be a good GM.
Well I had some optimism building with Bratt, but I'm going to say that sounds like more posturing to me.
We went from "hammering out a deal" to I sent him an offer...
Hammering out a deal basically means working on a deal, which is basically what he’s doing. An offer being sent and discussions being had is a net positive.Well I had some optimism building with Bratt, but I'm going to say that sounds like more posturing to me.

They didn’t counter because they didn’t like the offer. I don’t see Fitz sending the same offer, it’s most likely higher. I expect the return to be quicker here. When he first brought it up I said that he always sounded positive on a deal last year too. I do not believe Bratt's signing before Meier.
We sent out a deal last year too. They then didn't counter until right before the deadline.
Ehh I'm, with him. I'm not worried yet, but saying "we (two sides together) are working on a deal" is different than "we (our side) sent them something, waiting to hear back."Hammering out a deal basically means working on a deal, which is basically what he’s doing. This would be a mistake, I think Fitz gets Bratt done first before Timo or at least he should. Bratt's the better player, home grown and that should give precedent.
At some point Bratt needs to tell his agent to get the ball rolling if he really wants to be here. Go get a fair deal, but what is this not responding bullshit?

Some of you just seem to want to take the worst possible scenario with everything.
Cause his agent most likely sucks and tried to get petty with it. I’m pretty sure it won’t be the same with this offer. Why would you just not counter because you didn't like the offer?
If one player is willing to sign for what both sides see as reasonable before another player who they can't find common ground with, I don't see how that is a mistake. This would be a mistake, I think Fitz gets Bratt done first before Timo or at least he should. Sounds like the offer just was put on the table, we should get an update in 1-2 weeks. But I wouldn’t be surprised if this got done quick. If an offer is on the table and it doesn't get resolved quickly, then it seems to me they are still really far apart.
I think Fitz is simply much more available than most GMs.The other red flag to me is why are you telling the media? And Julie's comments? Is it some form of damage control?
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't hear a lot of GMs talking about deals like this. These deals just get done and announced.
I respect the honesty
Did I imagine it or did Holtz request to meet with coach and Fitz recently? This response seems likely the product of that conversation about getting playing time down in the AHL vs practicing in the NHL.
Must have been a positive discussion based on this tweet.
