Doesn't sound like Brunette is becoming Head Coach next year, does it?
Isn't the Ruff contract up in the air still? I recall at least one someone suggesting Ruff has no contract for next year or at least no coaching contract for next year. I doubt Ruff wants to go quietly into that good night after a nice rebound season for NJ. I am also not sure how the golf cart incident might or might not matter to the team.

Ruff's impact on player development has been incredible. A lot of players reaching their offensive potential and defenders improving as well.

The only notable exception I can think of is Holtz, but he still has plenty of time to make the team in future seasons.

But on the whole, Ruff has been a good developmental coach. I didn't think we would get to the playoffs with him at the helm, but even Fitz thinks we're a at least year ahead of where he expected.

I'm sure Ruff will be back next year, which is fine as long as no one seriously considers hiring Brunette as their head coach.

Vancouver was supposedly very interested, but they've already just hired Tocchet, who will most definitely at least start next season as their head coach, unless the entire management is burned down again, and in that case they probably don't give a shit about Andrew Brunette.

I'm a little worried the Rangers would try and snag him, especially since we're getting close to Gerard Gallant's average lifespan being reached.

But the one thing about the Rangers is that they don't really hire head coaches like Brunette and when I say like Brunette I mean guys who are rookies or damn near close to rookies. The only time they've done it in the last 20 years is when they brought in David Quinn, just a few months after sending a letter to their fans that they were basically blowing it up.

The last time the Rangers hired an unknown/non-marquee name to be head coach during an era in which they were trying to compete was the Bryan Trottier experiment, which didn't even last a full season back in 02-03.

They've almost always had either a marquee name or some very experienced guy, outside of the David Quinn ''Retool'' years or however they were billing it.

Gallant, AV, Torts, Renney, all came in with years of head coaching experience in the league at the time of their hirings. And even if you go back before Renney and the short lived Trottier era there was Ron Low and John Muckler. Colin Campbell didn't really fit the bill, but I believe he was already an assistant there and took over after Mike Keenan's one and only year there when they won the cup. And then you had Keenan, who was already seasoned at the time and Roger Neilson before that. The Rangers have basically had only 3 Andrew Brunette type head coaches (inexperienced) in the last 30 years. And one of them was during a rebuild and one of them was already an assistant that was promoted after the previous head coach's departure.

Also Adam Fox developed in NY during Ruff’s time as the assistant coach in charge of their D.

Linsey is a great development coach judging by these results.

He’s fair, patient, honest and doesn’t play games. Isn’t prone to Torts-like tantrums or embarrassing guys, the players seem to respect him and his knowledge of the game.

That said, a lot of the success this year should also be credited to improved assistant coaching as it’s a team game there too. But as to this Lindsey also gets some credit for the smooth and positive functioning of the group and being the ultimate buck-stops-here decision maker.

Did Foote kill penalties in the AHL? I always imagine his “extra” at the NHL level would be on the powerplay.

Sucks for Wood but I'm happy, Foote deserves to play, he was great Sunday night!

I don't think I'd be comfortable in giving Ruff a longterm contract though, like 2-3 years max! Hopefully everyone stays awau from Andrew

Liquor has the benefit of, for the most part, being carb-free. It has calories, mind. But tequila/mezcal, whisk(e)y, brandy, rum*, gin, vodka generally have no carbs. Cordials, liqueurs, schnapps, amari, etc. often do, so caution there.

*rum: rum still has a lot of hinky stuff going on - adding sugar at the end, or putting a thimble of 23 year old and calling it 23 year old (most spirits are aged based on the youngest spirit in the blend, not the oldest). United States, Jamaica, Barbados are reliable countries with strict laws.

I look forward to toasting a victory properly this evening.

what about "Rhum Agricole" from the French West Indies (since you know about the subject)? Can this be tinkered with as you suggest above we watch out for?

Ahh, that's a lovely style of Rum. It's generally trustworthy, it's made from sugar cane. Rum itself can be made from cane or cane juice or white/brown sugar or even molasses (although this is controversial to some). Agricole is expressly made in French Caribbean possessions and from cane, pressed into juice. It's fabulous and different from "regular" rums - tends to add a grassy note to a lighter spirit than rums made from other byproducts of sugarcane.

...and what about fireball?

Fireball is a Sazerac product mass produced by taking bulk Canadian whiskey and adding cinnamon flavor to it. It's been pushed on retail license holders (along with Wheatley Vodka) in order for those license holders to be able to acquire Sazerac's more in-demand stuff (Buffalo Trace limited products). There's a touch of a scandal right now with it because they made a malt liquor version for sale in shops in ABC-controlled states. So not a liquor at all, but the labeling is nearly identical.

Ok I’m so confused ( happens often) . I’m listening to Sportsnet 960 and they are talking about Novak. They are saying that he is producing very well and he is only 25 amd has room to i,prove even more. Novak doesnt look 25 to me and he signed with us when he was already in his 30’s years old …Sportsnet needs to check their stats better.

I think it was an old Reggie Jackson quote that someone jokingly used about Haula.

I have no problem whatsoever with bringing Haula back for a year or two. He's probably going to get 2-2.5 million or so per year? That's fine for what he does.
He's at 2.375 mil right now. Don't see why he wouldn't sign a 4 mil/2 year deal (2 mil AAV) with us.

You cant afford nor fit all three of Graves / Tatar / Haula

Were going to have to pick two and... idk if Haula makes the cut. Then again Tatar can be more easily replaced even tho I like him more

Tatar-Hischier-Meier
Palat-Hughes-Holtz
Bratt-Boqvist-Mercer
Foote-McLeod-Bastian

Just as a hypothetical roster I posted here two days, for viewing purposes
