shero gets hated on a lot here but he was a solid gm who had absolutely nothing of value to trade for picks/prospects when starting a rebuild.

I think there's enough goalies that need a change of scenery that possibly Blackwood could be moved even injured for one of them. Almost no goalie with term beyond this year interests me in such a trade except maybe Eric Comrie (one more year 1.8m). If he were to come to NJ and then lose the backup job to Schmid/Daws he could be waived without any real issue.

Are they real good buddies outside of hockey ? Yes they are all Swiss but doesnt mean that all being from same country means they are good buddies for sure . I hope they are and it influences Meier extending and somewhat lowers his ask as much as possible if he loves playing here. A good playoff run and battle together will hopefully make them all hungry to all do what they can to win a cup (s) . I dont expect anyone to take a huge discount just because they have buddies on the same team , but maybe it has a very slight effect

Only a die-hard sports fan could look at the actual record, see a guy fired about a full year before the average GM tenure last, look at team with no goaltending, no defense and Jesper Bratt as you're only viable long -term winger and think the architect of that did a "solid job"...

Garth Snow got fired before the Islanders ascended, Scott Howson got fired before the Jackets ascended with Jarmo. It happens all the time in this sport where a GM sets up the future GM with tons of assets/capital to take advantage. It'd be mind numbing to say Shero didn't set up this team to Fitz on a platter. Granted, Fitz has made a ton of shrewd moves on his own like the Siegs, Vanecek, etc. Most of the stuff has been through what Shero left him.

At the 2003 Anniversary pre-game presentation Nico was just banging his stick on his ice in excitement. No one else was really even doing it much, if at all lol.

I'm sure someone already said it but not trading Holtz/Nemec/Hughes/Mercer in the deal for Meier allows us to package all 4 of them plus our 2025 and 2026 firsts to Montreal for Josh Anderson.
It might take Jack a minute to adjust to having a winger who can finish.

This is absolutely preposterous. No way the deal gets done without including Jack.
I don't think anyone does? The criticism of Shero is with respect to building a defense and his attempt to accelerate a rebuild to appease Hall.

I thought Ray was very good, the only strategy I really disagree with in hindsight was building such a small defense. But in fairness to him, the defensive pipleline and roster was such a complete train wreck that he had zero to work with. The poor guy barely had draft picks to work with when he first got here.
