Really needs to be a focus for Jack this offseason, unless we're going to staple a good FO guy to his line.

I don’t know. I look at that list and see some fantastic players whom I don’t really worry about their faceoff percentage.

On the hand, what other physical item would I want Hughes to focus on in the offseason? Maybe it is faceoffs, he’s got much of the rest of the physical/mechanical game going pretty well.

Maybe it’s how to use leverage as a smaller guy during a board battle in the defensive zone. He can still be a bit of reacher when trying to fish pucks out of board battles even when some body positioning may be a better choice.

Hi, Oilers fan coming in peace. I know nothing about Damon Severson.

What's the scouting report and what do you see as a comparable contract for his next deal?

Good skater, better offensively then defensive but I think fair to say he is a pretty good 2-way 2nd pair guy. Can play PK and PP, but shouldn't be on a top unit in either situation. Looks for constructive breakout passes but that can lead to some boneheaded mistakes.
Yeah, most of the hate he gets on here is just a product of him having been miscast as a top-pairing guy out of necessity the last handful of years. As for his next contract, Evolving-Hockey had him projected for a 6 year deal at $6.8 million cap hit before the season started.

Right before the Hall-Larsson trade, I remember there was a rumor that the deal was going to be Severson for RNH.

Didn't see this posted yet. The Athletic has us with the 2nd best prospect pool.
it came a up a few days ago when #3 was posted. Most of us were pretty certain the Devils would be #1 with Hughes, Nemec, and Holtz up top. I think someone said the only way the Wild end up at #1 is if Wheeler really likes Wallstedt. Turns out he does!

FAHHHHKKKKKK

Wow. Week to week. I wonder what is wrong with him that would have him try to skate yesterday but now has him out for awhile.

I hope it’s unrelated to his awkward fall on his arm/shoulder at the all-star game.

Week to week? And not day to day?

Oh, come on man.

What the f***? That could be like 2-3 weeks?

Wouldn’t be surprised if it was. Can’t wait until it’s brought up on the main boards lol.

Really needs to be a focus for Jack this offseason, unless we're going to staple a good FO guy to his line.

Fun Fact: If Jack continues at this pace (33.2% faceoffs), he will end up with the third-worst faceoff percentage ever for players to take more than 300 faceoffs in a season. The only guys ahead of him at this point are Kirby Dach last year and Oleg Kvasha in 98-99. He is right now in 7th for players to take more than 200 in a season. Faceoffs aren't all that, but this is just embarrassing. He's gotta improve.

Yeah, I'd probably roll the dice on Bertuzzi if we miss out on Meier and the price is right...otherwise, just go with what we have.

I’d also be happy with Bertuzzi and I wouldn’t mind taking a flyer on Schenn. I think he would replace Smith, gives us more depth and helps off-set Trouba, if we face the Rangers. We definitely need some more toughness going into the playoffs.

I want to know when and how the injury occurred.

Also, this likely derails any chance Jack could have broken team records for goals or points. What a bummer.
Yup, he’ll get 40 goals and most likely 90 points, but 50 and 100 just got tougher. It’ll have to wait until next year. :naughty:

He should get more than 40, as he's already at 34.

If he can only get 6 more goals this year then that means he's out for longer than we want.....

Oh yeah, I meant he’ll get the 40G plateau, but i doubt he gets to 50.
