I agree with you.

I'm at the point where I want fighting banned from the league, so that this type of player can be completely and utterly weeded out if that's all they're there for.

I'm just telling you what I think we're gonna do. Not what I WANT us to do.
Also Clarke is waiver eligible next year. Unless we trade him and Foote for a goalie or for another prospect, those two should be our extra two forwards coming out or camp next year…with giving them a game here and there early in the year to see if they’ll be NHL players or not. Then you get the Tierneys on the waiver wire.

I think Clarke sucks and I think he was already waiver eligible this year and passed right on through.

I'd like to see Foote play before this year is over.

He could be one of those cheap guys who you put on a scoring line on a cap-strapped team to put in goals and then get rid of them when they want a raise. I.e what Toronto did with Johnsson and Kapanen. One of those 40 point scoring-line guys.
Johnsson and Kapannen are NHLers. Clarke isnt. There are no need to pencil him as 13F because there is a very little chance someone will claim him.

Also, maybe it's just me...but as a 13th F, I'm looking for someone who has some degree of ability to play center, and I want someone more defensively responsible than a goal scorer. I could be in the minority in that though

There are a ton of guys like Clarke. Talented but can't crack an NHL lineup.

The guys with unique skillsets and less talent are the ones who usually get claimed.

Clarke is now the forward version of Reilly Walsh.

He's been here in the system for several years now, yet he's only played one NHL game.

Just like Reilly Walsh.

This is his fourth year since turning pro and he's played a single game. Even if fans have belief in him, the organization certainly does not. They've shown that.

I heard about some guy named Nosek.
Would like to sign him, Henrique(Stephenson is an option, just isnt my priority) and Blackwell for 4th center line role. And would challange Blackwell and Nosek to compete for the starting role. Blueger is an option too.

Our forward depth is complete trash now, there's a ton of fodder out there to fill out the roster like this year (yuck) but who do we have in the pipeline that is actually good? Grits, Fimon, Lenni, is Stillman even capable of playing up here? We really need someone to knock our socks off that's on an ELC soon. I hope we can get on a roll in the next few years before we're capped out, not a center to be seen either, yikes.

I'd love to bring Nosek back as a 4th line / 13th Forward. Perfect example, tbh.

While I don't think he's suddenly going to put up 40 points, I also think it's possible that we didn't exactly get his best season this year given the injuries and whatnot.

I hear Donnie Meatballs will be available when Buffalo whacks him after the season concludes. Talk about a brilliant hockey mind! He and Travis Green would be one helluva tag team and give the Hart Foundation a run for their money!
The heat they would draw would be like the Outsiders when they first came to WCW/formed the NWO.

Fitz could be their Eric Bischoff. I guess Jack is Hollywood Hogan?

Yeah, I like what he is doing now, I just don’t want to pencil him as 4th line center with no real backup plan.
Noesen Henrique Mercer
Trenin Nosek Lazar
Blackwell, Bastian
Would be very good bottom squad.

I always thought the thinking was that he was like Holtz in that he had offensive talent but not a good complete game. And since we already had Holtz (and Mercer kind of) in the lineup, we were better served with the Tierneys, Dowlings, and Willmans to try to not be a negative in the bottom 6.

The fact that Mercer and Holtz will be kept cheap by their bad years lessens the need to have Clarke around just in case. But if they get traded, I think you keep him as an option to plug in to a Top 9 role where you have responsible vets to cover for his defensive warts.

Granted I haven’t actually watched him play and looks like he has not been great offensively in the last month. I’m just saying he could be a guy we plug in for Holtz if he gets traded and we don’t feel like paying money for a scoring winger. We’re not that deep in offensive prospects right now and I don’t want to see Willman or Dowling be played in the Top 9. Or Bastian either really.

But I get that Clarke is probably a Reid Boucher/Blandisi/Pierre Dagenais/Bergfors type and we won’t actually miss losing him.

The problem we will have, that any team will have is that these good bottom 6ers, that hit the market, will be overpaid by the fact that there will be 10+ teams wanting them. People still complain about Palat, but at least he's a middle 6 player at worst and can be a key piece on a top line with the right players.

What is the projected contracts for the likes of Trenin and Joshua?

Trenin only has 16 points and currently has a 1.7 million dollar cap hit. Of course teams will want him for reasons other than scoring, but I can’t imagine a non-center that may not clear 20 points will get too much. I would think at the absolute highest end he’d get something like what Marcus Foligno got (4 per)?

What should we know about this kid Wendt we signed from the NCAA? Is this a long shot prospect or sneaky good move that has a reasonable chance to pay off?

Jake Allen has been the teams MVP since we picked him up. If we can still find a way to get another good goalie without spending a ton of assets than it needs to be looked into. Schmid needs another year in the AHL to rebuild his confidence and Daws could be a good call up option. Allen on the other hand has been very good for us most games he has played , he's Corey Schneider light with the way the team has been playing infront of him. I like most others bashed Fitzgerald for this trade but it's looming to be possibly worth it. Tom needs to get us a real coach and some better depth players this summer , I'm tired of watching this team play so inconsistently...

Fitz said in no uncertain terms that his goal this offseason is to bring in a new starter.

Hopefully Allen is helping make the point that upgrading the goaltending doesn't necessarily mean mortgaging the future for a big fish. You just need someone that can come in and not give the game away, and there needs to be a change with the skaters.

I really don't envy Fitzgerald, whose job and possibly his future as a GM depends on nailing the goalie and coaching additions.

I still like the Markstrom route. Should be cheap, has a two year out and allows a Daws/Schmid/ThatOtherKid to develop into something and be a cheap option.
