The 2014 Ruutu deadline trade is one of the stupidest, nonsense moves I can remember. Like, why even bother? Just do nothing, rather than acquiring a clearly already massively declining 30 year old player with an additional 2 years remaining.
This is when I soured on Lou and started thinking we had no idea what they were doing. Just an absolutely pointless trade when the team probably should have been selling.

Really bad look for Brunette. You can afford a damn uber man.

I wonder if he has a somewhat known problem with alcohol, which is why FLA gave him no opportunity to keep the top job.

What do you do with him now? Fire him?

Brunette also probably just killed any chance of him becoming Ruff’s successor, or a head coach anywhere anytime soon.

He vs team?
He's not a good player.

Agree on Brunette though, and you have to wonder if there is not an issue there that Florida knew about.

Just said the same regarding a previous issue.

I think you keep him and put him through a rehab process.

Awful to hear on Brunette. Just no sense in that type of thing these days when it is so easy to get a ride any other way.

Hopefully he takes the route Montgomery did and gets the help that he needs.

Probably send the guy to rehab if it's a long term issue like what happened with Montgomery, extend Ruff (ugh), look for a new assistant until Brunette gets sober. Some sort of disciplinary action if it's a one off but I don't think that's the case here.

Well, that sucks. DUIs are no joke, but I'm interested to hear the details of how bad we're talking before I judge him. Was he just over the limit, or blackout and swerving or something?

I doubt they'll cut him loose entirely for this, but I have a feeling he will be away from the team for "personal reasons" for a little while now.

Well yeah. I think you have to remove him from the team now and send him to rehab.

Brunette needs to go away for a while, and if this is a situation where he was clearly blasted and not just a "he was fine but blew a .09" situation, he should go away permanently.

yikes all around
I dunno, if helping people with such issues is who you want to be, then I think you help the guy no matter how drunk he was.
