Cool, another Devils Player I Personally Dislike vs Mercer debate.
I mean, I really hope Mercer turns out to be better than Bratt and Nico, f*** it, better than Jack too*. I love the kid and the better he is, the better we are.
He’s shown a lot and I’m not going to negative about him for a goofy debate. “He can replace Bratt” is the new “he can replace Nico” though, and about as reasonable.
*Unless we trade him, then nevermind lol

if it's quartz I riot. Ok, except maybe if it's an Endurance. Those look pretty good and are purpose built for a Quartz chrono. I'd rather an Endurance than the new Superocean. To each their own but that new design just does not do it for me.

The Devils have a literal Jesper Bratt clone in Dawson Mercer aged 21, but lets pay Bratt 9m, our soon to be fourth best forward behind Meier, because who needs forward depth.
Current season stats have Hamilton nearly twenty points above Mercer, our fifth highest point producer. Followed by a Tatar and Haula unlikely to be re-signed.
So clearly the response to a lack of forward depth is to commit 18 million to two more first line forwards in the coming months
But I guess people like ZajacsBowlCut and Hischier with the lame numbers are so confident that Mercer cant ever be Bratt . Just as confident as they were in Bratt becoming a top winger when he was under .5ppg at 21
Mercer and Bratt are completely different type of players.

Mercer one isn’t as small as bratt and isn’t nearly as good of a skater or playmaker to this point.
Basically the only thing comparable is that they both have good motors but Bratt is much better in most aspects otherwise and is much more impactful. Could Mercer get there. Possibly but it’s not likely he’s ever as good as Bratt. He certainly isn’t a clone of Bratt lol.

Right well while you pick apart their extremely subtle differences, lets just remember both play the position of wing and are known as playmakers. One isnt seven inches taller nor is one a sniper
So yes theyre basically clones. You can be literal if you want and nitpick it but Mercer is our best forward going forward whos cheap (literally what Bratt was for us, weird another perfect comparison)

No one knew what Bratt would become at 21. Just as no one knows what Mercer will become which is why it would be really stupid if someone to suggest he’s a Bratt clone when he’s nowhere near him right now and there’s a damn good chance he never is.
It’s funny reading through this because a bunch of the things you’ve said you’ve literally come up with your own counterpoints to elsewhere.
