Even that year, with all the success, the Devils looked their best when plays were broken, both teams were playing pond hockey,and their athleticism/instincts dictated play.It was a very interesting system. It worked well when EVERY player bought in on every shift. We saw it in 22-23
When it was structure vs structure the Devils still struggled. The defense had trouble recovering pucks and covering the front of the net; opponents staying patient was a problem for the devils even with things going well.
