Don't forget Auvitu, Taormina, Foster, Harrold, Fraser, Helgeson, Schlemko (he was actually kinda good iirc), Prout, Kapla, Gryba, and Yakovlev. We had a decade of trash sprinkled with some John Moore, Jesus Lovejoy, Severson (<3), etc.
I’m pretty pumped about next years defense

Merrill - Larson
Urbom - Gelinas
Burlon - Corrente
Helgeson

It’s a little bit on the older side but with all these guys having panned out we basically have 4 top pairing dmen and 3 high end second pairing dmen.

Don’t know if this JFresh fan vote was posted, but here are the top 80 D-men as voted by fans.

We have 5 in the list:

14. Hamilton
30. Pesce
50. L. Hughes
67. Nemec
77. Siegenthaler

Assuming this is for next year I'd move Siegs down to like 120 (low end 2nd pairing dman), and move Luke and Nemec closer together, maybe both around 55-60.

If the Devils have a good year, they’ll probably end up with 3 or 4 in the top 30 in next years poll.

Nothing else to do. Anyone remember Andrei Loktionov?

Occasionally there'll be some interesting game used / locker room stuff that ends up on SidelineSwap. When I do my periodic search, this autographed Loktionov jersey always pops up.

Nick Lappin

Lappin had 4 points in his first 8 NHL games and the car salesman in my keeper league tried to pitch Lappin to me like he was the next great undrafted free agent.

Several months ago, same guy was like "Bet you regret turning down Jason Robertson for Daniel Vladar" and I was puzzled by that since I had no recollection of that being on the table since I would have instantly taken it and ran.

We use Slack as a chat client which only archives chats for a few months unless you pay. But they had a free month where I could access chats from years ago. Sure enough when I searched, he didn't offer Robertson, he offered Lappin. Since I'm petty, I took a screenshot and sent it back to the guy. [/coolstorybro]

Last I checked, Bobby Farnham was playing in Northern Ireland with the Belfast Giants

Also a reason why the team is unlikely to win anything substantial.

Need to find a Lemieux, Holik, even Madden type asshole to add to the team. Still holding out some hope for Stillman, though he didn’t seem to really deliver on that in the AHL last year.

Agreed. I was gunna write that I'd rather be a hated team but forgot to or something

Like Cotter, Noesen, and Dillon?

None of them are aholes imo. They do add some toughness sure.

I would not have Levshunov or Parekh (and probably not Buium) over Nemec. Even if you think they're better prospects (I don't think the first two are, and I'm not sure about Buium even though I love him passionately), Nemec has played 60 very good NHL games. The de-risking of the profile would, for me, require a pretty significant difference in projection to overcome. They're in the same tier, though, so ultimately I'm not bent out of shape about it.

I also would have Casey higher, obviously. I don't think there should be 70 places in between Lane Hutson and Casey. I think Lane should be a little lower, and Casey a little higher.

Silayev seems fair.

Smith and Bahl were excellent PK guys (I expect the PK to be worse this year)

Their issue was they sucked at all the other aspects of hockey
Pesce is an excellent PK defenseman. Dillon was bad last year, but good the year before.

It might be worse, but I wouldn't be too worried about it. There's also room to grow for our forwards.

I don't think we'll be bad on the PK.

I think we'll give up quite a few more chances when actually on the PK, but on the other hand we should have to kill fewer penalties, and the goaltending should be better leading to overall fewer goals against.

A Siegenthaler bounce back to what he was in 22-23 would do wonders

Hey Gibbons was a good player for us.

More impact than 'noted Parise replacement' Bobby Farnham. Although I liked the grit that Farnham delivered
