Thank god it’s just one year.

We’re a cap team alright, but we still have a lot of money tied up in useless junk.

Thankfully, I think the entirety of that useless junk comes off the books after this year.
Just in time to give Sharangovich, Boqvist,Bratt raises. Seriously though we have a good amount of money with Graves, Severson, Tatar, Bernier, Haula, and Johnsson all coming off the books.

Blackwood too. f*** him if he doesn’t have the best season of his career. He needs to go bye-bye if he doesn’t. But I don’t trust that there’s a better chance of him getting Samsonov’d than getting Wood’d if he sucks again. Then we get to pay him at least $3 million for more shit goaltending.

I don’t see any of those others back at all. Haula is a maybe if it’s for the same price?

The only one of this bunch that’s really gonna remotely hurt to lose is Severson.

I hope Boqvist shows enough to force him out. I'm not a fan of Woods contract though but whatever.

You hope Boqvist shows enough to force who out? Wood?

I don’t even think he has to. I can’t see Wood coming back after this year. He’ll either price himself off of our cap or the injuries will have caused him to just be useless or less than effective.

Maybe he comes back for cheaper than he’s getting on this deal, but I think that’s also wishful thinking that’s merely just a fantasy in my mind.

I think the only reason Wood was brought back is because he’s an RFA. If he were a UFA this year I doubt we just sign him.

Wait - I think you mean Haula?

You’d think Fitz could talk to Johnsson and convince him to waive his NTC to go somewhere where he’ll play more. I don’t see how being buried on our depth chart helps his next contract he wants to get.

Cap doesn't matter though so its fine
If I had it my way, I wouldn’t have signed Miles Wood and we wouldn’t be at the cap right now (but still close).

Honestly, if I had it my way I would have given Bratt more and not have signed Wood. We’d still be below the cap by a little because Bratt wasn’t gonna get $8.65 million.

We have a lot of guys that were already signed for this year that I can’t see being here next year.

Graves, Severson, Johnsson, Tatar, Blackwood (hopefully gone but still an RFA), Bernier.

I think that’s roughly $18 million coming off (and that’s not even including Blackwood) and then another $3.2 million is $21 million after Wood comes off.

I think I added that right.

If I’m reading CapFriendly’s tweet about the buyout window that opens in 3 days now, the only guy on the roster that has any non-zero chance of being bought out is Tatar. Is that correct?

73k in space you would think one of the forwards between mango and Tatar may be moved

I may be wrong about how LTIR works, but I think we may actually need Bernier on LTIR in order to exceed the cap. Unless some other move is made to make room for Zetterlund.
