he brought up good points that maybe Jesper just wants a short term deal now so he can get an even higher raise next time, as opposed to fitz perhaps wanting to lock him up for term. and we can just kick the can down the road to next offseason



also, listening to him, he doesn't seem as messed up as his tweets portray him lol - he acknowledged how over the top he can be

I listened in on one a few weeks ago when he had Ryan Novo on and it was pretty good. He let Ryan talk about some of his articles and then just opened it up to questions.

Devils wouldn't pick the 2 year reward to UFA, it'd be utterly foolish and stupid. They'd pick 1 year and probably look to move him as opposed doing this song and dance in a year where Bratt has even more leverage than he does this year.

I can tell you from first hand knowledge that this is basically what it was like being a Philadelphia Flyer with Giroux and friends.....I'm talking post Richards/Carter era too..
Apparently Ristolainen is a complete sh*t show in the locker room also

Problem with that is it becomes a hostage situation with Bratt's impending UFA doom the year after next. You thought negotiations were hard this time?

If Bratt makes it to arbitration and gets the 1-year deal... Well, sadly it means hes very likely gone by the trade deadline.

You cannot lose Jesper Bratt for a Debrincat-type return. That will set us back big-time. And Fitzgerald probably wont let it happen

Im beginning to hypothesize what Bratt will fetch in a deal. Issue is how will we ever be able to maximize value if he wont ever agree to a deal with another team (in principle)?

As long as it involves a roster player or high high end prospect about to step up.. I guess it isnt the worst thing that could have happened. He coulda had one less RFA year and then youd be barely looking at top-10 draft pick value.

Someone's going to have to look this up but I THINK if a player is signed to an arb awarded deal, they can't be traded for a year.
